See, swine flu hasn't affected anyone in Asia as far as I know, so I think your mother is overreacting.

I know I'm safe at the moment, swine flu hasn't been detected in Yorkshire yet. I'll start worrying when someone actually dies here from it. But even so, if anyone's to die it'll be someone who's vulnerable to seasonal flu anyway, but no doubt the media will bring up the "AAAAAGH WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE!" malarky

Rubbish. Been said already. I'm mainly worried about the country going into panic and cancelling things like festivals, because I have Oasis tickets.

You could come up with quite an awesome film plot wherby woolly mammoth remains are thawed out and spread mammoth flu which kills everyone on Earth apart from a few rare genetic strains of human who are immune - this rag-tag gang of Flumans have to do battle with many species of animals who have become mutated and bloodthirsty by the virus... or something
