Decrepit Birth are indeed abysmal. I agree with Martin, a good production is essential to a really killer death metal album. It has to sound like the guitars are actually cutting into your head and the bass is a low rumble you can feel in your breastbone.
I've just picked up remastered versions of a few early Cannibal Corpse albums and goit a reminder of how fucking good they are. I've only bought one album post-Barnes (Wretched Spawn) and found it a bit lacking in the actual song department. Is the new one worth hearing?
