So you can all kiss your gay thrash parties goodbye.
Municiple Waste - too much party party? not enough...

I'm glad they are getting bored of it, that's fine and means there will be something different in store from the Waste in the future, which is good. Can't keep doing the same thing forever. Unless you're Iron Maiden of course.

He also admitted he was an alcoholic in that article... They were fucking awesome and up for it at Wacken, but I reckon with interviews like the terrorizer one, it'd be a bit hypocritical to do another album all about partying.. Having said that, they shouldn't be an image, they should whatever the hell they want...

Gee.... I don't know about the rest of you guys, but lately the only things that truly motivate me are erections and bowel movements.
Thank the Police coming straight from the underground...

Waste rule, but it's not like all of the songs are about partying... sure maybe a few too many are, but oh well, can't really expect much else from an album called 'The Art of Partying' tbh!!!!
Parties rule too.
Parties rule too.

The thing I always liked about the waste was that it was all just good fun. Songs about sharks, horror movies, smashing things up, the occasional anarchy anthem, and a few party and drinking songs here and there.
But the new album is a one trick pony. All about beer beer beer and party. Don't get me wrong, I've consumed enough beer to kill a country or two but it's not like i get drunk and sing to my beer how I love him. I watch shitty b movies and laugh my ass off, or go out and get stupid and break things.
Partying isn't about the beer, it's about what happens after the beer

Well the whole attitude and image of Municipal Waste and their fanbase is what puts me off the band right from the start - if they're exaggerating the "silly thrash" gimmick even more with the new album, then I'm even less likely to be into it.
I'm not just trying to be some sort of poe-faced scrooge, I just think this band's whole approach is about roping in as many fans as possible, and encouraging silly crowd antics that always put me off.
Musically I can enjoy some of their material - it's decent high-energy fun metal, but I don't really have much respect for the band otherwise, except I suppose for bringing a bit more attention to thrash in general.
I just don't want them to totally sum up thrash to a new group of fans, because this whole concept is not the be-all and end-all of the genre for me, and I think it would be lame if a whole new fanbase emerged who thought it was, and went on to embrace bands like Testament and Anthrax as the only gods of the thrash pantheon.

I'm a big Waste fan, I've seen them about 3 times and i'm going to see them again at Reading. Whilst i find their music enjoyable and their lyrics funny, i worry that theyre going to personify thrash to a whole new generation. The whole 'party thrash' thing is supposed to be a novelty against a serious metal backdrop, but where is the thrash metal covering real serious topics?
If bands like Municipal Waste dominate the scene, thrash metal will be a genre wathing in mediocrity. Where are the bands pushing boundaries and progressing the genre? Where are the bands who refused to get sucked into singing about satan or zombies? Don't get me wrong, those subjects are fun in moderation but at the moment thrash is a genre about gimmicks.
I realise i've gone on a bit of a drunken tangent, but i'm just getting frustrated because there's so much potential out there going to waste. (puntastic)

Yeah, I'm not into everyone saying "DUDE, THRASH IS ABOUT ZOMBIES, SHARKS, TITS, RAPE, BUMMING, BEER BONGS, OLD GAY TV PROGRAMMES AND BEING A CUNT ALL THE TIME!!!11", there are some of us out there that really don't want to have a good time ever and just want to be serious about everything.
...and that's Crufts.
