I think that thrash metal maniac is a sad bastard. I don't see why he cares so much about us all talking about thrash because we're certainly not gonna be talking about his shower of a band.

What on earth. This is the best forum on the internet, there is nothing wrong with it at all. None of the sections are spammed with madness. There has been in increase in hilarity perhaps, and this is good. The moment you start taking stuff too seriously, you become like every other shit forum on the internet. And anyway, all the humorous fun is in the general chat section, usually in relevant threads. For example, yes, the Office madness did ruin some threads, I for one am very guilty of that, but that's only because I was so happy to find a forum full of people who were into the same sort of stuff that I am. And in the end, James told us to just post our quotes in the Office thread, and we did. No harm done. All other threads are back to normal. Same for Peep Show - I don't see what the problem is there, we only talk about it in the 'Peep Show Thread'. What harm is that doing to anyone?

I think this is quite an overreaction. Most people seem to agree anyway that this is still great and there is nothing wrong with it, so that's fine. I don't think anything is overshadowing anything. All the madness is just in the general chat section, which is perfectly fine because it's for general chat, and fun is good. The Thrash/Music/Gigs/etc sections still serve their purposes and haven't been ruined by anyone. What the hell is the problem, eh?

I agree that a lot of the silliness takes away from any debate about music on this site. Also, while it's naturally very important to support the other bands in the scene, I don't think that the indiscriminate support and lack of constructive criticism benefit bands at all. It seems that everyone on the site likes EVERY UK thrash band, and even EVERY thrash band, which I find a bit strange.

I don't. I just don't want to point any fingers, seems easier and less likely to potentially upset anyone in such a active/insular community as this.

I mean for one thing i have met people off this forum, i would never do that on any other forum i go on. Why? Because they all live in America, lol. No because the majority of people on the net are a sham and not what they really like. As where i know the people on here are passionate about the music because they are out there playing it, or going out and seeing the people playing it.

Most of the silliness is confined to the general chat and that is fine with me. I think it would be more than possible to have long and drawn out discussions on out favourite bands and the reasons why, but you probably wouldn't get more than "-------------- fucking rules" from most members including myself.

I personally cannot take anything on the internet seriously. I mean have you seen what is on here? It down right lunacy in places. Final point is, if you want to have a serious discussion say so in the topic, and if the topic wanes prop it up yourself.

Overall this place is fine, its fast, its silly in places, its occasionally violent and most importantly its fun. Which is exactly what thrash is to me. Apologies for rambling, not had breakfast yet.

Glad I made this thread now... wasn't that a nice healthy subject to discuss? I only said that to see what everone else thought, the only problem I see is the occasional total off-topic hi-jack which is annoying, especially if it's in a thread that you'd normally read and it's just some shit that you don't care about...

Mort, there are plenty of threads about bands and such, just they're all buried at the bottom of 'All Thrash' I believe...

I don't bother posting a new thread often, since many topics have been/ are covered in other threads, and also there'll be about 8 replies and only one that's at all worthwhile, due to the nature of this forum! But c'mon, what's the point in posting in a thread if you ain't gona say anything worthwhile? (except General Chat)

I don't think sillines often takes away from music chat. If you look in the Thrash section most of that is generally always on topic and sensible (to a degree...) There are occassions it suffers but not really.

To your second point, I do not like every Thrash band OR every UK Thrash band. However, I do like a shitload of classic Thrash bands but not all of them and I wouldn't criticise a UK band because most are still up-and-coming and don't need everyone on the internet constantly knocking their efforts. Martin can do that.

But "I'm seriously you guys" - the general response seems to be that people know where the stupidity takes place, and are totally able to avoid it if they want. I will aim to exterminate any crap which is clogging up an otherwise good topic. Much like a Dalek would exterminate disposable characters.

I have actually deleted the occasional crap thread from General Chat, usually before it has time to germinate into a hideous online abhorrence.
