Hello,

Sort of doing the promotion rounds - so sorry if you have read this on other sites, but......

Cynic have just completed an 8 track album, recorded at Rockfield Recording Studio, (RUSH AFTK, Hemipsheres, Queen Bo Rhap, Motorhead Ace of Spades albums etc), engineered by Matt Butler, (former AIR studios Montserrat engineer, who has recorded RUSH, Pink Floyd, Gary Moore, Dire Straits, Paul McCartney etc)

Samples of the album are available at You Tube see -

http://uk.youtube.com/profile?user=TimBatkin

The tracks include
Suicide
Eight Below
Dark December
Faithless One
Ten Years from Now
Rebel Eye
Do or Die
Suburban Crises

The band who performed on the album was,
Shaun Grant Guitars and Vocals,
Dom Heptinstall, Guitars,
Tim Batkin Drums,
Gary Curtiss Bass

The album will be released as both Vinyl and CD, through the Cynic web pages.

Hope you like it,

Tim

What makes you say this will annoy a lot of people? Cynic uk have been around since 1980, and we made "Suicide" in 1983.

We, (Cynic) met Paul Masvidal and Sean Rienert from the Cynic USA band in London a few years ago when they were Aeon Spoke - they were nice people.

Best wishes,

Tim

Because there are a lot of BIG Cynic (US) fans this might cause a little confusion and mild frustration. But it's all cool. I shall give this a listen now.

Hi Std Caps,

Are ok I get it now. There was a post on the You Tube site from a guy in Oz, saying we ought to check out the original Cynic who made Focus in 1993.........we made Suicide in 1983 and Do or Die predates this by a couple of years.

I had a conversation with a guy from an American Board about this, and his feeling was its ok, those in the know, know we are Cynic from the UK who made Suicide and Do or Die and are nwobhm, and Cynic in Florida are Prog Death, Thrash, Jazz, who made Focus.

Be interesting to see how it all goes.............our manager when we made Rebel Eye, (1989) lodged all the material, artwork and name with a firm of solicitors for copyright..............

Anyway, enough of this................how did you like the sample material??

To be honest, samples are a bit of hard work. All the fading and that...
Still, it sounds pretty cool. Can hear some Motorhead influence. Just hard to judge much further...

Hey Std Caps,

Thanks mate..............a lot of our material gets played on (of all places) a Florida internet radio station, Grinder is the man, and his show is the Old School Metal Show, on http://www.nwobhm.net

I will get a copy of the album eventually to them for some airplay, so maybe you can hear a bit more there.

All the best,

Tim

Hello Mate,

Thanks for the info - as you can see we do know of each other, and we actually know each other.

Its a good point you make though.............as I have had one person getting upset, as though we are passing ourselves off as the Florida Cynic!

The internet seems to refer to us as Cynic UK, and Cynic USA, and maybe thats the best way not to confuse people????

Anyway - did you have a listen? What did you think?

Best wishes,

Tim

im boov, resident Cynic (US) fanboi.

I think it's a DISGRACE that you're trying to pass yourselves off as the original Cynic. Think of your own band name! POSEURS!

But not really, i was aware of you guys (because of ebay searches where your demo came up :p) as a NWOBHM band that predates Cynic (US) by some years. Cool to hear you're still going.

Did you consider changing your name? i think it will confuse some people, especially seeing as Cynic (US) have reformed.

PS Cool anecdote about Paul and Sean. Do you like their Focus album?

Why should they change their name when they've been using it longer than Cynic (US)?
