I have decided I should do more exercise, as I live a very sedentary lifestyle. I walk to places when I can, but that doesn't raise the heart rate much. For the last two weeks I have been going swimming on Wednesdays, which is really good (it's also free until the end of March here, due to a Council initiative). I'm going to go twice a week though from next week.
The first time I could hardly do front crawl/freestyle at all, but now I'm getting more familiar with the technique and breathing (plus I have some better goggles than last week). At the moment I do one length of front crawl and then a cool down length of breast stroke (the best name for a swimming technique ever). I aim to slowly fit in more front crawl lengths between cool-down lengths, but at the moment even one front crawl length is knackering.
I will probably start jogging to the sports centre as well, for a bit of a warm-up - my problem is I have a bit of a bad back which plays up when I do lots of impact-related exercise like running and football, so swimming will be my main thing.
I'm also considering registering at the gym, although I would probably only go if I could get my brother to come along too.
I think exercise generally makes you feel better though, gets you sleeping and eating better, and obviously makes you more fit and healthy. Just have to make sure I keep up the routine! Anyone else feeling the urge to be more active?

Re: Exercise
Nah. Si is bugging me to go to the gym, but its not for me. Im fine with just sitting on my arse and walking to the bus stop in the mornings. Im not the healthiest person anymore, but meh. I sleep well and eat well as it is so that wont benefit me.

Re: Exercise
I joined my uni's gym at the beginning of the year and go at least twice a week. I do some weights first, concentrating on ym upper body, then I do some cardio for half an hour. I have strong abs, unfortunetly my beer belly hides them

Re: Exercise
I used to go to the gym a lot, and once into it i loved it. I knew so many people there and used to do spinning classes twice a week (fucking hard work!!!!). However, money issues meant not renewing my membership and it didnt take long for the good work to dissapear!! I doubt i could be arsed again now, although i would like to be in a finacial situation where i could rejoin and see. I get lots of exercise in my job (walking approx 9-10 miles a day) but walking does nothing to shrink my belly at all!!

Yeah I have been for a bit, the last decent amount of exercise I did apart from walking was jogging a while back. But jogging is so boring it literally put me off bothering. I like swimming but my eczema doesn't so that's not much fun either. However, to my great joy my group at uni has started up a weekly hour of five-a-side footie! This is great fun and the best exercise Ive had in ages too. I ached so badly after the first week, but after even just the second time it's much less painful, which I guess shows it must be doing me some good, right?

Re: Exercise
All my exercise has slipped off the radar to be honest.. When I was in sixth form, I used to play football after school all the bloody time, played for my halls 5 a side in first year a bit, but since then, I've just favoured bed instead. I walk quite a bit now, but apart from that.. I'm an incidental inactive ignoramus innit.

Re: Exercise
Play 5-a-side every Sunday (but in goal - I'm amazing
)
My knee is fucked tho so I can't do a lot other than that until Physio does it's magic. And then...
Gonna be doing hourly sessions of boot camp style fitness training on Saturday mornings for a few months.
Tempted to try swimming, but I absolutely hate smelling of Chlorine, and would have to buy new trunks and goggles.

Re: Exercise
I too am going to exercise more. And by more, I mean, do some, as the best I do is walking from the bus stop to work. In summer I play some lovely bits of football, but that's it. I'm going to get some weights and make my arms huge and well 'ard.

Re: Exercise
Bollocks to exersize. As long as I enjoy having a drink and eating decent food there seems little, if any, point in it for me. I used to go to the gym three times a week until I was 16 and then I discovered the joys of getting hammered and getting a 12" onion pizza for the journey home. I was going to start playing rugby again but last time I trained I tore my calf muscle and couldn't walk for two weeks. Like I said before, bollocks to exersize.
