A few clips from their gig at Pinkpop over the weekend i think. Ride The Lightning is ace, Kirk proper nails the solo. Just wish Lars would stop using a fecking china cymbal as a ride, it sounds gash!!

HOLY CRAP!
They are sounding awesome! I guess Rick has been getting them to start practicing again, this is a flawless performance!
James' vocals are spot on, even Kirk sounds a lot better and Lars is annoying me far less than usual!
I'm excited.

I thought it sounded shite. Their sound is horrible. No matter how well you perform, a shit sound is gonna be a shit sound.

They sound amazing, it makes me really happy to see them playing so well again.
I usually have a strong disliking for Kirk Hammett's solos but he sounded excellent here, James's voice was lovely aswell.

Considering every other one i've heard recently has been complete shite, this is as step up.

Yeah, that's pretty much how I'm seeing it.

Go back and listen to Cunning Stunts. They don't sound any different now. I think the only time I've really been impressed with how they've sounded was on S&M. Kirk seemed to hit quite a few solos better than usual. I'm assuming it was because they had been forced to practice knowing that they would be playing alongside an orchestra.

No, its because they re-recorded all the bum notes, S&M is almost a studio album!

Just like Alive In Athens, then?
To be fair, Metallica were never that great in the studio. When you let Kirk play stuff live that he wasn't allowed to in the studio because he couldn't play it, it's little wonder they've never sounded amazing live.

Yeah seriously, this really is a step up man, compared to the sound they had a few years ago which was appalling this is a step in the right direction for sure!

If that was a step up, I must hate Metallica.
