I read a story on blabbermouth today that said Dave is finally over being kicked out of Metallica.

That man is a fucking idiot. And a genius. I prefer his version as well.

Not really, as he actually did write the song which i think gave him full reign to use it. As it was his song, that is why metallica were forced to re-write it along with the lyrics to jump in the fire which he also wrote!!!

But why were Metallica "forced to rewrite it",Mustaine gets a writing credit for both songs you mention on the album anyway,as he does for "Metal Militia" and "Ride the lightening" Metallica can do a version of "Peace sells ..." on the next album if they want, they don't have to change the words, just give credit to Dave for writing it.

The studio time was booked when dave was booted and kirk was already told he was in the band before dave was told he wasnt!! It was to short notice to write another song, so they just reworked it in less than 2 weeks! James actually wrote the lyrics for JITF while they were in the studio, and i know that is true cuz i got it straight from the band!!! I do remember Dave also alleging that both hit the lights and motorbreath were rip offs of songs that a guy called Hugh Tanner wrote when him and James were in a different band (obsession i think). They never credited him for it and denied the story but i remember i got a fanzine with an interview which mentions this story, i'll dig it out and have a look!!!!

A similar thing happened to us, Pitiful Reign actually wrote all of our songs.

He's a complete prick, which is why people love him. The dude just generates conflict everywhere he goes, even now in his born-again phase. I wanna direct a biographic movie about him because he'd be a great fucking anti-hero. The climax would be him hearing St. Anger for the first time and laughing his ass off.
