Yes, i think you should do that.
Gee.... I don't know about the rest of you guys, but lately the only things that truly motivate me are erections and bowel movements.

Finding something that everyone else likes is très difficile, especially seeing as I've already made my feelings on most bands and comedies clear.

Perhaps you should denounce yourself? As we have all grown quite fond of you lately.

Nah, I can't do that.

Self-denunciation is seldom objective. Sure, I could focus on my few flaws, but that would only take up a couple of lines and I'd really want to start a new thread for it.

But it could trigger a shame spiral, and that would be most amusing to watch.

I would say i find that hard to believe, but i am the same. You wouldn't believe the amount of silly bets i have one just on that point.

To continue the trend of agreeing with Iain, I'll hop on the bandwagon this time.

Rubbish.

Three different people have agreed with me on three different things within the space of around 18 hours. I'm not liking this at all. I'll have to reassert my amazing-ness by finding something that everyone else likes and denounce it as gant.

Which of course is what you've always done, not your fault of course, not only were you born daft, you also have the added misfortune of being scottish. But really, even then, your opinions might have some small amount of credibility, had you not comprehensively proved that they were worth less than nothing by your continued love of Level 42,purveyors of woefully dull pop for middle aged mums to hum along too, whilst doing the ironing "Running in the family"? Oh dear.

What are you on?

- Scots are statistically cleverer than English people.

- Level 42 are better than every band you like (Mark King would cock-slap you for insulting them).

- You are just jealous that you can't form or sustain arguments in the way I can.

Fuck off, grow a pair and stop trying to be a snob.

'My name is ribbons69 (I'm clever, hence the reason I chose the number 69 as part of my user name) and I have issues with my dad so I've turned myself into a complete Goth to get my mum's attention'.

You make me sick.

My dad's been dead 17 years, although my mum's only been dead for four, but then I guess writing stuff on the internet about sad lonely scottish goons that live at home, still think it's clever to drink themselves to death, and have really really poor musical taste,is cheaper than going to see a medium to make an impression on them.
I did like the bit about "form or sustain arguments" though, especially coming from a troll who responds to pretty much every new thread with a negative comment, often it's the second post Iain! Really, your "look at me,I'm better than you,I don't like thrash" spiel is wearing very thin
,why don't you go off to a Level 42 forum? Although I suppose your "I know Lee Altus me!" catchphrase would impress them even less than it does anyone on here.

But to give your sad little rant some credit,"ribbons69" is a goth reference,so go you

See before this starts, can I just ask you if the MySpace link you have as signature is actually you?

I'm asking this because, I don't really feel obliged to come up with any sort of comeback against a 40 year-old who claims to be an atheist and to not want children, yet who still has long hair, likes Metal and doesn't hide that embarrassing tattoo he got on his wrist when he was six.

The only thing I feel I should point out is that I've been living away from home for Uni for four years and have only just come back now to try to avoid paying for food and lodgings now that I have to start considering paying off my overdraft.

If you are 40, I can't really comprehend your hostility to music that isn't Metal. It's the sort of attitude that I had when I was 17 and now I just rue the [iron maiden]wasted years[/iron maiden] of listening to gant music. Sure enough, I'm sure I will listen to it again at some point in the future but, for now at least, I quite enjoy the competent musicianship and song writing of Level 42.

Of course that's me.
I "claim to be an atheist" well, that's because I don't believe in God
"I don't want children" Nope.
"Still got long hair" well,I used to have long hair, then for quite awhile I had your dimwitted view that it was something I ought to grow out off.I'm older now,and I know better.
The tattoo isn't the best I'll admit.
So your back at home now under mummy's skirts, because for the first time you've got to live in the real world, times are hard for everyone
"Hostility to music that isn't metal" not really,I like a lot of stuff that isn't metal,I like a lot of the stuff you like, but as you like to point out,I'm 40,and I had to listen to shite like Level 42 when it first came out.So Mark King can play the bass really well, woo! He can't write decent pop songs for toffee,it's rubbish Iain. And in ten years time you'll wonder why you felt compelled to spend so much time on a thrash metal forum telling everyone that the stuff they like isn't as good as the stuff you like.
Now go and put your dummy back in,

Ken

Iain, I'm 21 and have already reached that point. I remember having a hard on for weeks waiting for the release of God Hates Us All by Slayer, and being amazed at how, even at the age of 14 I thought it was the most childish thing ever (lyrically). Swore of metal (for the most part) ever since.
I remember a Nirvana tune, 'I Hate Myself and I Want to Die.' As much as I like Kurt Cobain. I can't have people like that coming over here, on smack, fucking saying that they hate themselves and they wanna die. That's fucking rubbish. Kids don't need to be hearing that non-sense.

- Of course it's you? What a shame.

- You are 40 years old and you have neither immediate family nor religion? If I were in a similar situation I'd be pretty distraught.

- Long hair is something that people invariably grow out of. The multitude of successful Metal musicians that have jettisoned the locks at your sort of age is a testament to this.

- Don't give me that 'welcome to the rat race' bollocks. I could live with my mum for as long as I want to be honest. I do actually want to do something with my education (which is almost certainly of a higher standard than yours), though.

- I had to listen to a lot of music when it first came out too, I don't see why that's a reason to dislike it. Level 42 are 'purveyors' of fantastic up-beat '80s goodness. I guess you'd struggle to appreciate that because you strike me as the sort of bloke that has a face like a smacked arse 24/7. Mark King didn't need to write Pop for toffee when he was getting paid to do it...

- I won't need to wait 10 years to ask myself why I spend so much time on here. To be honest, I've branched out into different areas of criticism as of late, well, compared to my 'If it's not Kiss, it's shit' rhetoric of yesteryear. I spend a lot of time on here because I spend more time on the internet watching things than I do watching things on TV. However, I don't mind simultaneously having another window up and posting shit on here, in a similar as do Dian Wei and MartinC.

At the end of the day, I've long since come to realise that this is not a forum for serious discussion about music; it's a forum in which people that have similar interests can talk complete bollocks and have a bit of a laugh. It might not always turn out that way but it does most most of the time.

Now fuck off and get a haircut you fat mess.
