Oh god, my parents used to listen to Duran Duran, Aha, Queen, Michael Jackson, loads of other stuff, when I was really small... awful....

Then I got into Oasis, Blur, in year 7 went through that phase, then got into Offspring, Blink 182, Green Day, Slipknot, Limp Bizkit, then onto Metallica... Liked Thin Lizzy, Deep Purple, Hendrix, Led Zep forever though :D

Still like the Offsprings first couple of albums and a few Blink tracks... the rest was a load of shit though hahahah

Yeah, the Offspring had a good early career. Until Americana came about. But strangely enough, it was Americana that got me into them! Eventually I discovered their early stuff and liked it a lot more. That was another band I used to love in my early years. I used to have debates with Stu over who was better, The Offspring or Oasis. Imagine that if you will.

Well my (ex) Uncle played me countdown to extinction around 1994/95 as he used to listen to it while we played Doom, which had a rip off of the master of puppets riff on the first level.
Though i never really bought music just borrowed it from him, though Vanessa Warwick with headbangers ball before it dissappeard got me into a load of different stuff like My Dying Bride which lead to my doom interests....and becoming friends with Cradle of filth's guitarist got me into black metal

Oh god, I went through quite a bit of a Cradle of Filth phase at one point in my life. Goodness me. I'm sorry everyone.

E1M1 is not the same as master of puppets for the 10000th time Torso.
Gee.... I don't know about the rest of you guys, but lately the only things that truly motivate me are erections and bowel movements.

Thank the Police coming straight from the underground...

"Several of the music tracks are inspired by parts of songs, written by famous heavy metal bands. For instance, the distinctive lead synth 'electric guitar' riff from the level E1M1 was inspired by a riff at 1:30 in Metallica's "No Remorse".

So maybe not Puppets, they did rip of some Pantera and Slayer riffs. Though yeah, i could say playing Doom non-stop as a kid has influenced me with its synth guitar riffs lol

You know it's funny you say that. I'm going to put forward a theory to you. Well it's not really a theory. Just a thing. When I was listening to the Heretic song on Bangers & Thrash, I said to Jamie there was a bit that reminded me of Cradle of Filth (not in a bad way). A fast bit in the middle somewhere. I wasn't saying it literally sounds like Cradle of Filth, but the feeling of death and fast picking of the slow moving melodies over a fast drum beat reminded me a little bit of them. Jamie told me I was an idiot, but would it be fair to say that I wasn't? Do you know what I mean?

I wrote the riff that you're on about. Can't say I'm not influenced by them. Lyall has listened to them a lot aswell.

They are not my favourite band in the word but there are some really cool riffs in there.

The debut COF album, was and still is a classic. They have never written anything close since, as they overcomplicate and elaborate everything now. That album has intensity, simple but effective riffs, excessive speed, some subtlety and great listenability. They became caught up in their own hype and like their personalities, their music was firmly up their own arses !!!!

I reckon from the cradle to enslave was their best release. The lyrics were actually wicked, and they did two awesome covers as well.
