Marge, don't discourage the boy! Weaseling out of things is important to learn, it's what separates us from the animals! Except the weasel.

Homer: Are you saying you're never going to eat any animal again? What about bacon?
Lisa: No.
Homer: Ham?
Lisa: No.
Homer: Pork chops?
Lisa: Dad, those all come from the same animal.
Homer: Heh heh heh. Ooh, yeah, right, Lisa. A wonderful, magical animal.
Homer :[Sickly sweet] Oh, look at me! I'm making people happy! I'm the Magical Man from Happy-Land, in a gumdrop house on Lollipop Lane! Oh, by the way, I was being sarcastic."
and because no one has done it yet

Homer: Aw, twenty dollars! I wanted a peanut!
Homer's Brain: Twenty dollars can buy many peanuts!
Homer: Explain how!
Homer's Brain: Money can be exchanged for goods and services!

I thought Sam would have been the more likely suspect.

One of the best Homer monologues is when he's going to visit the Duff Brewery and gets out of sync.
Homer: *says* 'Roll in at 9, punch out at 5!'
Homer: *thinks* 'Well, off to the plant!'
Homer: *says* 'Then to the Duff Brewery... '
Homer: *thinks* 'Uh oh! Did I say that or did I just think it?! I've got to think of a lie fast!'
Marge: 'Homer are you planning to go to the Duff Brewery?'
Homer: *screams and runs out of the room*

Haha, Homer is the best cartoon character ever I'd say.

Tough call between him and Cartman I would say.

Homer, Burns and Skinner all have brilliant lines. I like Futurama so much for the same reason - the characters always have great lines.
Hermes: It's time to limbo like only a Jamaican can!
Fry: Jamaican?! I thought you some kind of outer-space, potato man!
Hermes: You're a crazy, penniless, lobster doctor. No part of you should ever be a comedian!
Bender: You know, I was God once.
God: Yes, I saw. You were doing well until everyone died.

One of my favourite episodes was the clown college one. The bit when Homer's in work and everyone's on fire, but he sees them as dancing clowns... Great!
Or the one when Flanders opens his leftorium and homer wants him out of business. Why are they so shit these days!
