Headliners Seregon are one of those bands who you watch, highly enjoy and scratch your head as you wonder why they are not signed and headlining metal festivals the world over. This tour is to promote their new EP, Disposable Suffering and they certainly made themselves some new fans in Hull and by the end of their set there was plenty of hair flying at the front of the stage. Powerful modern thrash metal with nods to hardcore metal in the thundering rhythm section and some awesome lead guitar topped off by powerful growling vocals that stay the right side of understandable (call me an old sod but I do like to be able to make out the odd lyric). Seregon are one of a new breed of UK thrash/death/hardcore metal bands that can shake the foundations of whatever venue they are playing in and with front man James they have that extra edge to make them stand out. They finished their set off with some powerful Sepultura covers, a brief blast of the Fresh Prince theme tune before pounding through a highly enjoyable version of Metallica's Seek and Destroy. I enjoyed them so much I bought a t-shirt which really says it all I think and I can't wait to see them live again.
