Led Zeppelin

this is not a general thread to praise Led Zeppelin, but a cry for help - I've never really given them the chance I should have, and don't own any of their albums.

I want to know where to start, and which is a good album to buy first.

I wasn't actually being serious but despite their huge influence they are over rated.

Yeah I've always suspected they were probably a bit overrated, but that doesn't justify my total neglect of their material...

Buy the new best of called "Mothership". Oh and I think Holy Crap! Lions! is over-rated. :-)

James, I'd reccomend to start off with Led Zeppelin III, LZ II, Physical Graffiti and Houses of The Holy.

Get II and IV and stop at that. I really liked them when I was younger but have since discovered other '70s bands that blow them out of the water.

I bought Mothership cos i had no Led Zeppelin in my collection at all. It is a really good listen and has been on constant rotation on my mp3 player since i got it. Trying to decide which other classic groups i have so far ignored to try out next. Thinking about giving Rush a chance

Led Zep are so unbelievable that you will never fully believe them. how can they be over-rated? they are that good!

I equate them to sabbath in the way that a lot of idiots or ... n00bs (eew)... will say they love them and that they are the best, but really they only know stairway to heaven. LZ are sooo deep and have so much going on in their music, if you like metal... erm then similarly to sabbath, you will like LZ. if you dont... you are false so do not entry or you will be burned and died.
