Conquest Of Steel

Postby demonic-dave on Sun Mar 25, 2007 1:10 pm

Yorkshire heavy metal band Conquest of Steel have gained themselves a solid reputation for their full on live shows and no nonsense old school approach to the genre. Ready to embark on a full jaunt of the UK and Europe to promote their upcoming sophomore album "Hammer and Fist", Guitarist D. D. Danger speaks to Yorkshire Legions of Steel about the band, the tour and the Yorkshire metal scene.

What are people's thoughts on Conquest of Steel? I find them hard to take seriously - I know they're a 'fun' sort of band anyway, but the music varies from average to embarrassingly contrived, and I think they make the whole genre ripe for ridicule.

Agreed. All I remember from them live was that every song was called "_____ of steel".

They did start out a bit silly, but they're desperately trying to lose that tag, and their new album is a real step up.

Like Billy says these guys did start out as a joke band but are working hard to shift that tag. The last album I found a bit mediocre, the new stuff is much much better though.
Can't beat them live either.
I killed Reanimator.

they started out as a fun band but theyr'e serious about it now!I think poor production hampered there 1st cd but you cant beat songs like "only the devil" and "can't stop the metal"!And live they're awesome, always a great night out!

Wasn't overly impressed when I saw em live and personally think they're overrated.

Comedy metal is never a good idea - it always, always, ALWAYS gets stale very quickly and then a band is left to either call it a day or try and desperately shake off the 'comedy' tag. These boys are competent players but let's be honest, the joke was never really that funny and they need to raise their game somewhat if they want to compete. Good luck to 'em though, we could do with a few more 'proper' metal bands in this country.
