I've got both their albums, and they're quite good. The line-up is pretty much the same as Dream Theater, but without the vocals, which is good cos that's the worst part! If you like LTE you should check out the album 'An Evening with John Petrucci and Jordan Rudess,' which is kinda similar but more jazz influenced.

Not really for me either !! A little bit too poserish and self-indulgent. May appeal more to train-spotting musician types who can listen and appreciate some of the technicallity involved, but to me, as a passive listener, its all a bit bollox really!!

Actually LTE only featured two members of Dream Theater, Petrucci and Portnoy, though Rudess (thew keyboardist) would go on to join DT a few years later.
Personally I love LTE, it's some of the best background music out there. True it's only useful for specific situations, but in those situations you can't beat it. I'm always putting it on to show up a couple of my flatmates who are in to their classical and jazz stuff.

I think this is fantastic! Cheers for introducing me to this band - I'd have instantly rejected it otherwise due to the Dream Theater connections - reminds me in places of a more rock and less jazz Mahavishnu Orchestra.
