The Fear...

Postby Atom on Sat Jan 13, 2007 1:41 am

Or nerves as most people call it. Anyway, I feel terrible before I play a show, I don't know if I'm ill or what but I just feel awful. Anyone else get this?

The nerves help me though, the more nervous I feel before I play, the better I perform, its strange!

I have a whiskey and coke before I go on and that usually calms me a bit but other wise I'm a gibbering wreck!

Fuck you wankers who feel fine before a show!

yeah the wait before a gig is the worst thing ever. You just want to get on thrash out and then drink lots lager. The amok ritual is that we go to mcdonalds eat as much as we can till we feel rotten. We bond over a big mac. So much so that we once played a gig with asick bucket at the front of the stage which was used incidently.....worrying lol

it kinda calms us :D

Haha!

Mutant has a secret food (that we stole from Sonic Death) that we eat before we play. It works I tells ya!

As soon as I stand on stage I feel fine though, sometimes before a show if I feel really bad I sit somewhere on the stage cos being on it takes away the fear for some reason.

Alone at the front!

i never get ill or nervous before playing, i am just so great!!

but seriously, i used to get bad butterflys etc but the more i have played (in other bands, not STD... we are shit and never play gigs because i am too lazy to book them!) the easier it has got. i find it a lot easier playing to a large crowd, i hate playing to only a few people, that is scary. i now just take that feeling of nerves and turn it into excitment and then when i am on stage everything dissapears and i can rock out.

sick buckets on stage.... that is impressive!

I think its natural to feel nervouse before playing a gig hell I do. Ive been playing gigs for years and I still shit bricks before I get on stage and sit behind the kit. I start feeling fine once we get started and everyone in the band just throws themselves into the music.

We always play to about 2 or 3 people, so I never get nervous.

I havn't ever got nervous before a gig (but I have only playd 2 ever..)

I'm probably just too carefree to get worried, tbh I couldn't care less if I'm shit onstage or not! :D

Oh and the second gig I was pretty wankered  good fun though!

We (well, me and other guitarist) just smoke loads of weed :-)

We hotboxed our van before a show once.

That was interesting  Someone opened the door to see clouds of smoke billow out, and 2 sets of red eyes staring out, hahaha

i've been gigging for 10 years now and still shit em before going onstage, i like it though coz i reckon the adrenaline helps you focus better on your playing. If i ever stop bein nervous i'll probably quit lol, i reckon it just the worry over whether you're gonna be good or not but what the hell, thrash 'em all!!! :rockdevil:

I used to back when I started gigging in front of a crowd of hard to please, stuck up Brighton types, but now I usually feel great, I love playing live!
