UK thrashers ACID REIGN recently met up for the first time since their legendary final show at the Marquee in London in 1991. The upshot of this meeting (apart from some serious hangovers) was a collective decision NOT to reform for any shows. The band would like to thank everyone who has sent them messages of encouragement to come out of retirement via http://www.myspace.com/acidreignthrash.
Formed sometime around 1985 in Harrogate, Yorkshire, UK, ACID REIGN played a "fun" brand of thrash metal reflected in the sleeve photos, gigs and songtitles. On the back of the second demo, "Moshkinstein", the band signed to Under One Flag, a subsidiary of Music For Nations, and released the first mini-LP, "Moshkinstein", in 1988. Through extensive gigging the band gained widespread support on the UK club scene and in 1989 the groups released its first full-length LP, "The Fear". A short time later, Gaz Jennings and Ian Gangwer were replaced by Mac (HOLOSLADE), and Adam Lehan (LORD CRUCIFER). European tours supporting NUCLEAR ASSAULT and EXODUS followed. A single of a cover of BLONDIE's "Hanging on the Telephone" was released and in 1990 the second full-length opus, "Obnoxious", which saw the band's songwriting capabilities mature. This was not universally received by the fans and following the departure of Adam Lehan (to CATHEDRAL) and then Kev (LAWNMOWER DETH) and a growing disilusionment in general the band decided to call it a day in 1991. A compilation LP, "The Worst of Acid Reign", was released by Under one Flag, featuring live, demo and unreleased material.
Bugger.

There's an unseen fortune under their belts
Are golden temples a symbol of God's way
This horde of wealth is a sickening display"

You say that, but that gig in leeds will always be in our memories and it has made me chuckle to myself a few times too! Shame that for me the highlight of a bands career was watching the vocalist fal flat on his arse onstage while pissed as a twat, and hearing him slag off the organisers who gave them the chance to play the biggest crowd of their lives
