No, I'm not comparing bands on drugs.

You seem to view KISS' use of gimmicks and cheesy pop songs in a negative way. I'm just viewing Phil Lynott's use of heroin in a negative way.

However, Lynott's drug use wasn't used as a cheap gimmick for popularity (although it was the lyrical base for one of my favourites, "borderline") so your point is totally irrelevant.
