Has anyone else here ever considered getting run over on purpose as a way of getting out of doing something you didnt want to do?

Oh yes, every single school morning while standing at the bus stop. I actually did it once. It worked!

I nearly got run over by a bus driver with a turban on, the day after September the 11th happened.
Being about 13 years old, I linked it to the terrorist attacks.

Haha yeah, I actually considered having a 'little crash' on my way to work at a catholic school last term (part of my uni course) to get out of it. It was hellish, being a teacher = the most stressfull job ever, except maybe being a professional testicular dartboard.

I can kind of imagine... I was talking to my housemate earlier on about teaching when we saw one of those teacher adverts. They give such a false impression of life, making all school children look lovely, when in reality we all know they're cunts. The thought of being a teacher is my worst nightmare.

My mum and dad are teachers, and for the most part, they see it as a nightmare. It must be one of the hardest jobs in the world, and the amount of work they have to bring home is insane. Deserve more pay.

I have utmost respect for anyone who can put up with the madness of being a teacher, it sounds ridiculous! Unless they're shit like my old ICT teachers in sixth form. But then again, you couldn't really call them 'teachers'... more like 'people who just happen to be there'. My mum is a learning support assistant in a primary school, so she does have to deal with daily madness, but she doesn't have the hassle of all the extra work proper teachers get. So I kind of have an idea of what a nightmare it can be from all the stories I've heard from her!

Yeah i have more respect for teachers after doing this module i did. Those adverts on tv are ludicrous, youre far more likely to be asked 'why do we have to do any work' than anything about how come the sky is blue or anything. Having said that, right at the end i took a gcse class for a whole lesson and it was actually quite fun, when it goes right you do get a pretty good feeling from it. They definitely deserve more pay though haha!

that last episode was so funny i thought the force of my laughter would rip my testis from their protective sack.

GCSE classes are pretty good as long as you aren't teaching a boring as shit subject and you aren't a cunt to the students.
Anything younger than GCSE and it's gonna suck.

My mate is training to be a teacher, he says that it is super go stress.
Gee.... I don't know about the rest of you guys, but lately the only things that truly motivate me are erections and bowel movements.

I start my PGCE in September. So cheers for all the good news...
But then my current job is probably more stressful than a typical teaching job anyways.

STD caps im sure itll be fine, it takes a bit of getting used to at first but itll all be worth it when you find something the kids really like and then its easy to teach them. Trying to teach a bottom set GCSE class Physics was always gonna be a bit stressful, but even then when i got to give a lesson about space and satellites they were loving it and it was suddenly the best job in the world!
On your PGCE though, i would recommend right from the off being as visible in the classroom as possible even if youre just sitting in on a few other teachers classes; try and get involved as soon as poss, then when you have to take a while class it wont seem such a big step. Also, even though teachers are v busy and stressed, dont take crap from them if you dont think theyre helping you out enough when youre getting started.
What age group and subject will you be teaching if you dont mind me asking?
Good luck!

The course is Citizenship (which fits nicely with my politics degree) and 11-19 agewise, I think. I am currently working as an LSA at a school with kids suffering behavioural difficulties. I ahve done some teaching and it went pretty well on the whole. Except for one incident. I might post it later...
