What an excuse!!!
I heard some politician bloke on the radio this morning say that the reason the hostage situation in Iran has gone on for so long was that with it being the end of the financial year, it was hard to get all people required around the table together
that must have been a great source of consolation to the families that were involved, i dont think. It got me thinking though, what crap excuses have you ever heard (or even used)???

Martin, you'd be pretty pissed off if you thought iranian military had been in British waters. The Iranians probably think we're a bunch of cunts too because of our government.
Atom, I think the issue runs alot deeper than oil but i agree that there was some cynical reason behind the Iraq War. The "spreading of democracy" excuse is pathetic. Since when has the U.S (and the west in general) given a shit about anything if it didnt benefit them?

Yeah I would, wouldn't mean I'd throw petrol bombs at the Iranian embassy whilst shouting "BEHEAD THE IRANIANS!!!!!". Just nuke Iran so we can all go back to sleep.

Don't get me started on Guantanamo Bay. The thing that really pissed me off is that Bush condemned the situation in Iran when they're practically doing the same thing to countless other counties including our own.

I couldn't believe Iran gave the prisoners back. God knows what was going on behind the scenes there, but at the very least it constituted a rather grand display of generosity which should help disillusion some people about the supposed threat of Iran.
Just for the record, I believe we went to war (or rather went to invade) for the dual purpose of securing a western foothold in the Middle East, and for the defence of Israel, which I consider to be an illegitimate state built on stolen land. If we're seriously going to consider invading Iran for purpoted nuclear developments, while simultaneously upgrading our own Trident system and defending the nuclear-armed Israel... the British people must be dumber than I thought.

I don't know who to believe. Everyones corrupt as each other. Iran say the sailors were in their waters, but kept them in good conditions and then handed them back as a good will gesture to the British people.
Our government said that they weren't trespassing, that the sailors were kept in bad conditions and had to suffer mock executions. Iran say that the press conference where this was revealed was a big propoganda exercise and the same has been said of this whole thing by Britain.
Who knows. Thank god for neutrality.
