hahaha
Alot of of "tech as fuck" fast/grind/what-the-fuck-ever bands dont particularly have the "image" or whatever because they're not gay like that.
http://www.myspace.com/takeaworm for example.
As for grind get the old shit like: Siege & Larm. When you can still hear the hardcore roots.

I just prefer a grind band to look like punks, rather than maths students! They always look a bit... clean.
I went to the Obscene Extreme grindcore festival a few years ago and that was crusty as hell... you couldn't move for dreadlocks and filthy jackets.

The whole experience was dirt cheap - inexpensive flight to Prauge, coach to the festival (takes hours though) and everything there is really, really cheap - beer worked out about 20p or 30p a pint I think, I just bought a load of beer tokens at the start and still had some left at the end. Food is very cheap too although the only stuff available onsite is vegan!
There's no proper camping 'site', you just camp out in the woods by the stage, which is excellent.
The atmosphere is cool and I'd recommend it to anyone who is a fan of grind and / or crust but not for anyone else. I'm a big grind fan and knew easily half of the bands on the bill, but still found sitting through a lot of unknown grind to be, well... grinding. I'd like to go again but I'm waiting for a really good lineup.

I saw Desecration with Sekhmet and Evile, missed Severe Torture but it was a perfect set!
Devon Thrash?
Sekhmet
Apocalypse Dawn
Ascension To Ashes
Unforgiven suck balls, they're pricks and they suck at everything.

They aren't no name, they aren't as established as the other bands, and they don't really know about UK Thrash or the scene.
It's pretty funny they think they're alone with the Thrash Torch

Schiztome are one of the most boring bands I've ever heard. Nice guys though, mostly. There was a cool grindcore band from Taunton a few years back, but I can't remember their name. And Cachexic come from down your way - sollid if unexciting stuff, but last time I saw them they did a killer Massacre cover!

Used to be into this stuff when i was a teen, then black metal raped my arse and that was that. Saw Infestation a while ago in Camden, not overly impressed but a comrade of mine was filling in on drums so I had to give them some praise heh.
Old obscure death metal ist best; Morta Skuld, Baphomet, Nightfall, Impaler, Accidental Suicide greatness. I fucking hate modern stuff like Decapitated.

To be honest, i still love the stuff i was into as a teen, even though some may have not aged to well, i don't agree that you can like a style then just replace it with another!!

Nightfall are an amazing band, especially the early stuff (macabre sunsets / parade into centuries etc). Original and evocative death, yet can be amazingly brutal!!

Edge Of Sanity are fantastic, Crimson I & II, Purgatory Afterglow and The Spectral Sorrows are some of the best elabums ever recorded.
