Whats it like? Do you even have one? The reason I ask is beacuse it would be good to get a scene report going to know where the hotspots are and where to go if you ever find yourself in a certain part of the country and want to know where you can find some metal. Please give an in depth report not just "its ok".
In west London its getting better all the time, there are a few thrash bands (us and some others like Distortia, Muted and Deceptor to some extent) and a small but dedicated following of about 30 people who turn up for each gig. There are also some other thrashers dotted around who I have found by stopping them on the street and asking for their email addresses, numbers etc.
The gigs usualy take place in a pub/venue called Filthy McNasties which is a good sounding small place that is also close enough for everyone in west London to get to with relative ease. There are hardly any other venues but some others include The Grey Horse, West 14 and Finnegans. There is also a metal night every Saturday in a place called The Pit but they usualy play pretty weak metal but the occasional thrash or classic tune will come up. The girls are ok too, there are a few that tag along with the posse and some real thrash chicks but as always there are some fucked Marilyn Manson and scene type ones too.
If anyone finds themselves in West London, give me a shout, I'm always up for going out and getting thrashed (when my toe heals).
Central London is cool too, the thrash scene is slowly building back up, when I saw Exodus in '05 there were hardly any people there and when I saw them in '06 it was packed with thrashers, old and young. There are loads of venues and loads of metal bars... Especialy on the first Saturday of every month when a huge metal bar crawl is organized and all the old metal bastards who have been supporting the scene since it began come out and show the youngsters how to drink.
Im sure James, Zykloned, Beercan, Nuke and all the other London forum members can offer some more info on the cental london and surrounding areas scenes too.
Anyway... GO!

Belfast Thrash? There isn't really a scene as such, there are a few decent bands would play from time to time, and a lot of talent hidding away, but no real local Thrash circuit as it were.

It's shit
I can name one Thrash band from Somerset - and that's us... there are quite a few metalheads in Weston and around, but there's not really anywhere where EVERYONE meets up, which is a damn shame... Also there must be LOADS of reclusive metalheads all around, I see quite a few people in metal shirts who I've never seen before!
We're hoping to get something going around here, there's plenty of small venues within 20 miles either direction that have 'metal' bands play them and I know some people from local bands (but none thrash..
), so we can hopefully get a sort of following maybe or some sort of life!!!!

well In my borough of Barnet which is North West london. there is hardly anything at all thrash, metal or otherwise. there used to be 4 or 5 venues and loads of other small places to play. now these are all shut down and nearly all the pubs seem scared to put on live music. its a complete joke really, there are so many talented bands and performers emerging, but nowhere remotely local to perform. this is why we created Metalbrew!
anyway, as far as thrash scene, there is a tiny tiny collective. consisting of myself, Caps (when he isn't down in kent), and all the members of Barnets only thrash band Doctor Death. i dont seem them that much because they are all doing their won thing and we live just a bit to far from each other to reguarly meet up, but whenever there is a gathering/party/big outing i get to see them. its hard to start a local scene when there is only 5 of you involved in it! we are lucky in that we have a massive general metal scene and there is loads of bands who try and play together when they can (just not locally... ), but as far as full on thrashers.. its a very small proportion indeed!
as far as london is concerned, i think it is a similar story all over the place, there are quite a few thrashers and pockets of thrashing boys spread out all across the capital but we have nowhere in particular to really call our own.... this is why i started Rage!

The Brighton and Sussex scene is pretty shit. The only only actively gigging thrash band that I know of in the area is Apex. The most prominent venue is The Engine Room in Brighton which is a rock and metal club. The quality is varied and the beer is too expensive but last time i was there they played xentrix so it's not all bad!
There are also very few thrashers that I know of (although there are a fair number of metalheads in brighton). At my college I am the only person who would call themselves a metal fan that didn't like nu metal or metalcore or some other crap.
However, some of these mallgoths and wimpy metalheads
are certainly getting into more thrash and I must grugingly give Trivium credit for this. Hopefully they'll grow out of the crap and we'll get a nice scene down here in five or so years time.

The Pit? Would that be in Richmond by any chance? The scene up here around Bradford is pretty cool, of course we have Evile near us as well as Hallowed Point and we're pretty much the sole Thrash band in Bradfordbut it's still killer as nearly everyone we hang out with loves their thrash as we got all the classic gigs up here back in the day. Venues are cool with the odd thrash gig popping up at Rio's and now they've started getting a bit heavier at The Gasworks too. It's promising.

P.S. You got a conact at McNasties by any chance? wanna book a gig

Yeah it was in Richmond but it moved to the dreaded Hounslow.
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that there is this awesome girl I know who is puting loads of effort into making a local pub metal so hopefully we will have another thrash venue by the end of this year.
Gig with you guys? Love to! I need to sort out a show there with the other West London bands I mentioned earlier, maybe you guys could headline?

He speaketh the truth!
Def-Fret we're a pretty cool (actual) thrash band tho.
And I do indeed remember a wicked band called Aggressor who Truc' were meant to play with but never happened. Need to find those blokes again.
(WOOP, found the cunts! Shame they aren't fucking alive anymore from what I can tell. Just Myspace their band name)

If for some ungodly reason you end up in Holloway road in london, turn right out of the station and walk for about 10 minutes, there are 2 pubs of use!
The Big Red - looks like a 50's bar from the outside, plays metal, serves beer, and steak!
and a pub opposite, forgot what it's called, plays live music every now and then!

Bet thats The Alma lol, played there a few times with my other band Bloodstream. Pretty cool though.
