Chris Barnes vs George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher

Postby Cernunnos on Thu Jun 12, 2008 9:20 pm

I know quite a few people on here like cc so I was wondering which they preferred. I'm going with Corpsegrinder because, even though my favourite songs are Barnes era, I much prefer Corpsegrinder's vocal style and I actually think he does the old stuff better than Chris Barnes did. That and Chris Barnes looks like a hippy
That is not dead which can eternal lie,
And in strange aeons even death may die

I voted Fisher. I much prefer more recent CC to old CC and I think he just has more control over his voice and a bit more to it. Plus, Six Feet Under are more or less the worst death metal band there is.

Rubbish band, no fans.
Gee.... I don't know about the rest of you guys, but lately the only things that truly motivate me are erections and bowel movements.

Thank the Police coming straight from the underground...

It was purely in response of your JP comments, though i do think they are terrible.

Although I quite liked Vile when I was a child, I preferred Barnes-era stuff.

Barnes is better, no doubt about it. The arrival of Fisher made CC a hugely boring band, both to watch and listen to. With Barnes they wrote better songs, and I think Barnes vocals have more of an organic, sickly feel to them, especially his gutteral stuff. Plus he looks like a tramp.

I like their first album but not much else so Barnes has to win it for me.

The most recent ones are way better than the old stuff. They sound proper weird now - in a good way. My favourite album is 'Gallery of Suicide'.

Is that not just because you feel borderline suicidal over this silly girl you've got an on again/off again relationship with?

I like the Barnes stuff best. Butchered at Birth is my favourite Corpse album. It's fucking cool and full of awesome riffs. I used to listen to that album nearly every day. The Corpsegrinder era is good, and he's a more tallented death metal vocalist, but the new stuff is too fast for it's own good sometimes and it's hard to hear what the hell is going on. Bring back the straight forward heavy riffs.

I have no idea
I'm not a huge CC fans,
only have tomb, bleeding and bloodthrist
as I heard, Barnes vocal in Tomb is hilariously sick and deep
good sick brutal vocal, but quite funny....
but in the bleeding, he change his hilarious deep voice

corpsegrinder seems more like a normal death vocal
but his voice is strong nad powerful compare to many others

I think I prefer Barnes a little bit,
maybe I think he's kinda unique
but both of them come really really close.....
