Exclusive ANATHEMA interview

Postby Immortalicide on Mon Aug 17, 2009 7:43 pm

After the bands Bloodstock set, i did an exclusive interview with Vincent Cavanagh.

First a quick review f the bands set:
An arse licky intro from Martin Walkyier
a ponderous, boring ploddy song
Name dropping the bands new drummer : Nick Barker
the monotonous tedious song this time with some female vocals
name dropping the drummer again
some more dire, bland dirges interspersed with some uninteresting drivel
the most ridiculous intro to any song ever : vince saying that the next song they are about to play can only be played by 3 (three) drummers in the whole country, obviously name dropping NB again as one of them, then they launch into a cover of Iron Maidens phantom of the opera!!!!!!
the end

Interview with Vincent cavanagh 16/08/09 by immortalicide

MORT: Hi, can i have quick word?
VINCE: yeah sure.
MORT: so u got a 40 min set, why did you feel the need to play an 8 1/2 min cover version???
VINCE: to get everyone going.
MORT: riiiiiiggghtttt (said with as much sarcasm as humanly possible)
VINCE: [awkward silence]
MORT: [gives vince a look of complete disinterest]
VINCE: [walks away quickly and uncomfortably]
MORT: [has mucho laughter with H.O.D. guys]

the end

I don't see the point in well-established bands playing covers. Candlemass doing Kill The King bewildered me as well. Both bands have plenty of material in their back catalogues, what's the point. I still enjoyed both bands though
