Getting really pissed at gigs, why?

Postby terrorizer on Mon Mar 12, 2007 11:08 pm

A few beers yes, but absolutely legless? I saw a lad at Down last year who was so pissed he couldn't stand. Okay judging by Down's performance that night he had a better time than I did, but I can't see the point of shelling out for a show and then not being able to remember it.

I don't really do it tbh, as you said i have a few to bring out the "colour" of the evening but besides that no. Only time i have been really slaughtered at a gig is at Wacken.
Gee.... I don't know about the rest of you guys, but lately the only things that truly motivate me are erections and bowel movements.

Thank the Police coming straight from the underground...

Would be a waste spending the money to get there and see a gig only to forget it, Though depends if you WANT to forget the show lol

Because alcohol helps you forget how horrible life is...

Actually, getting pissed at gigs is perfectly excusable if you get support bands like the ones we get in Glasgow.

I like to have few beers, a like to get to the kind of drunk where everything is a whirlwind of colour, light and magic and everyone is your friend. Not too pissed though.

Yeah, it's best to be in the fuzzy tipsy 'zone' for a gig I think - then you can get plastered afterwards by all means!

I've never really been affected by memory loss that badly, even the times when i'm so drunk I can't stand. So it's all good to me. I always make sure not to get wasted until after the bands though, it's more fun that way.

Sometimes I don't drink at all at gigs, or if I do I only have enough to get a little bit tipsy. Seems pointless to me that anyone would spend money on gig tickets only to not be able to remember it the next day because you got so drunk - might as well just go to the pub!

Last year I paid 80 quid for two tickets for Firefest at rock city, for me and the g/f,because I really wanted to see Bonfire and Gotthard.Unfortunately I started drinking prety heavily early on,saw a couple of bands, and apparently I saw some of Bonfire, sadly I have absolutely no recollection of this at all, even though we have photo's of the gig.As to Gotthard, well I had already been dragged out for my own good and was on the way home. What a twat

I tihnk the most 'pissed' I've been at a gig was Tankard, I was totally shitfaced stoned aswell but I remembered all of it!!! But at Tankard I'd say everyone was radiquately pished!!!!!

Beer goes hand in hand with metal anyway, so I tihnk it wouldn't be right NOT to drink at a gig!!!

I personally prefer not to drink at gigs. May have a cheeky pint before the opening band comes on, but that's pretty much it. I'd rather drink coke, keeps me hydrated

Some drunks really piss me off, especially the ones who always try to lean on you, no matter how far you move away :wall:

When i went to see Enslaved, Zyklon and 1349 at Sheffield Corporation last September, there was this lad who barely looked 16, let alone 18, who was smashed off his tits and could barely stand. He kept asking everyone around him if Zyklon would be playing anything off World Ov Worms, and whilst Zyklon were on he kept getting on the stage, and the roadie just kept throwing him off

I remember him,he fell iinto me a couple of times. At one point I saw his girlfriend holding him up against the wall, you could see in his eyes he'd totally gone,I don't think he'd have been able to tell you his name at that point.

the best gigs i've been at are the ones where i've been totally pissed, i might not remember all of them, but i remember i had a brilliant time, plus there's all the antics that go on when very drunk, like wandering around the centre of dublin for two hours after Anthrax calling everyone mexicans and making fun of their accents, or on the tube coming back from Iron Maiden in Brixton there was some wee lad who everyone else was taking the piss out of cause he was wearing a blaze bayley t-shirt, priceless =D>
