No, because there was hardly anything in it. Considering what had gone on throughout the day, a policeman shoving someone to the ground is hardly newsworthy. Had the bloke not already been a heart attack waiting to happen, I'm fairly sure that being shoved over wouldn't have killed him. I'm sure the Metropolitan Police already know who shoved the guy and the policeman in question will, quite rightly, be in the shit. Look if anybody wants to know what really happened at the G20 summit in London, in terms of protesters and police brutality... just type it in on youtube and watch some of the first hand videos taken by people there. the evidence is absolutely outstanding, and disgusting, its so sad that it actually had to take a Man to die to bring this to the surface, but the general state of the policing on that day was totally unacceptable. what sort of world are we living in? and the only places that cover it are Indymedia and the Guardian... fuck the national press man, and fuck BBC and Sky and ITV... there is no hope left for them, its beyond a joke,its just a mess and a money laundering scam of our rights to knowledge of what is really going on.

but honestly would you like to be a cop with all this going on atm? I meen the vids arnt showing all the verbal and physical abuse the cops would have been subjected to all day, and i know some of this isnr right, but at the end of the day if people are going to go to the streets and protest and cause trouble then its thier own faults.

I know if i was a cop about the time windows had been smashed and fires had been started i would have just got my batton out and fucking rampaged. Im talking serious rampage, every person i saw throw something i would fucking end, every person that shouted anything in my direction i would silence cause why should they deal with it? Look at all the photographers there, they are all just waiting for police to do anything so they can run a negative spin on it, its fucking disgusting. Look at that first video for example, im sure they had been hurling shit before the police had pushed them back and what does the camera man and reporter think? They are going to just tap them on the shoulder to move? NO, the police asked them all to go, none of them did as reported in that video, and then when they boxed them away from people who wernt causing trouble then they wanted to go and as such the police wer pushing em back cause they wer getting violent.

I think the police have an extremely hard job to do, I mean even if the numbers weren't great and most people were standing around peacefully, there were still people smashing windows and setting things on fire for god's sake, so it must be hard to gauge what action to take.

I think we can all agree that pushing that man to the ground was very excessive, and the tactic of 'bottling in' crowds seems dubious. But I would much rather have a city where a police presence is on hand in situations of mass protest, rather than have no sort of control whatsoever.

We called it reasonable force (attack back within reason). Whilst I have never been in a riot, I did help evacuate the whole of Birmingham City Centre when I was in the police just after London was bombed.

It was the most nerve racking experience of my life and something ill never forget.

The video mentioned is correct it is not proper policing, but in my opinion walking with you hands in your pockets, not at a proper pace just moping around right in front of the police is just asking for trouble given the circumstances.
