Ruskin arms? and gig venues?

Postby I_am_me on Tue May 27, 2008 7:13 pm

Hello all,

Jus wanted to see if anyone had played at The Ruskin Arms in East Ham in London at all?
My band has been offfered a slot there an jus wanted to see if it was any good :-k

Also any suggestions on good metal venues outside the hampshire area? excluding north of london / Kent?

Cheers in advance for any help/advice

Played the Ruskin about half a dozen times over the years, as a venue it's great but if you don't do sufficient promoting then it'll be dead in there when you play.

As for metal venues you could try Trillians in Newcastle, Rio's in Leeds, The Limelight in Crewe, Satan's Hollow or The Star And Garter in Manchester, The Old Angel in Nottingham, The Jockey or The Snooty Fox in Wakefield and The Parish in Huddersfield.

I'd love to play the Ruskin just because of the Iron Maiden connection. Go for it, it'll be great fun.

Seems a bit fishy that we were on about the ruskin arms in other numerous topics then you subscribe just to ask the same question with the first post.

What band are you in?

Were you? ah right sorry i'll have a look around t find them rather than making people repeat themselves,

I play in Insinerate, my guitarist books up most of our gigs n i usually ask around t find out what the venues/area is like and whether its worth us playing there (good crowd etc)
I don't use my computer or go on forums that much hence why i got straight to it in my first post :)

Cheers for the venue suggestions btw Kilgore~let 'em burn

Ok, my appologies, your story checks out!

Grand Central In manchester do free gigs on Thursdays too. Best way to find out venues is to check other bands profiles out, see where they play and google the venue normally.

I went to an Iron Maiden day thingy there a good few years ago. The venue is pretty cool as far as I remember, but it does seem a bit out of the way to get to.
