However we don't need to follow the dutch model exactly, we need to find our own solution to this problem. It's already been demonstrated that its not working. The problem with that is no one knows what the fuck to do.
The trouble is that effective drug policy is hindered by tabloid hysteria aabout the subject. "Protekt teh kidz!!!1". So anything thats going to look like a soft approach to drugs is going to harshly criticised.

Dealers would then sell it to the actual providers, thus legal, and all the doley scum wouldn't be able to afford it. That's not a bad idea at all young Zurab.

of course it's a bad idea. Do you think drug addicts are going to go "oh damn, don't have enough money to buy those expensive drugs legally this week. However, I won't commit any crimes to feed my burning addiction because that's wrong."

Incidentally, the Scottish Parliament voted down the SNP's hare-brained scheme of banning those under the age of 21 from buying alcohol at supermarkets today.

Fuck that. I'd sooner vote Conservative than SNP and voting Conservative in Scotland is worse than spoiling your vote. Actually, I'll probably never get round to voting in a Scottish Parliamentary Election.
