Well done Tom for telling me to check this out, it's bloody lovely and brilliant. I'm only 3 tracks into Mind Wars, but it's absolutely brilliant so far. Yes indeed! Here we go for all the thrashing boys.

Dr Death remind me a bit of Holy Terror with their speed and fast high vocals!

Terrible band!

They were the band that did Terror and Submission and Mind Wars, eh?

If so, they just struck me as one of those terrible bands, like Morbid Saint, you just had to put up with for Thrash's sake.

Yeah, I know what you mean about he speed. Musically speaking I don't hear many similarities (apart from the fact that's it's thrash), but I did notice that it was particularly fast, and that did indeed make me think of Dr Death! And Mr Swizzlenuts, unfortunately I wasn't doing a poo at the time of posting, I already did one earlier. I'm nearly done listening to Mind Wars and I've found it to be wonderful, especially Damned By Judges, that was a great song. I haven't listened to the other album yet, I will do tomorrow.

Musically speaking I meant mainly the vocals, with the amount of words and the use of falsetto.

I'm interested to see what you think of Terror and Submission Jon... it has more of a traditional edge with some more overt melodies. It isn't as brutal and thrashing as Mind Wars (or as well-produced), but I really enjoy it. I don't think I really have a favourite between the two though.

I think Holy Terror is one of those bands that make thrash metal completely unique. They have load of heavy metal and punk? in their sound. The riff though, holy fuck are they ever fucking awesome!

They are indeed pretty unique. The thing is, I don't actually find a lot of thrash that great, a lot of it is very conventional and doesn't do that much for me. And a lot of it just doesn't have much depth. Take Slayer (apart from Show No Mercy and the odd song here and there) and Anthrax (Among The Living for example) for example. They have plenty of good riffs and such, and they're enjoyable to listen to, but their music rarely makes me feel anything other than a mild excitement. It's just nice. Holy Torror on the other hand, because of the melodic goodness and different influences which give it a bit more depth, made me feel something more than typical thrash does, which is why I find it so great. It's all about feeling, which is also why Vio-Lence's Eternal Nightmare is amazing, because its riff after riff after roff of pounding madness and energy. Nice.

I was in your situation earlier this year, so I sat down and listened to loads and loads of thrash. I wanted to find out what made thrash metal not just a type of metal that is catchy. There are so many subtleties that I had never caught before, specially the ones that highly influenced the death metal genre. Especially how bands like Sabbat that use tons of time changes and their riffs progress throughout the song. I never put on a Sabbat album and think, holy shit this riff is catchy or whatever. Their songs flow, and their riffs progress on top of each other adding more and more complexity to them.

Holy Terror are unique and Great!

I prefer their debut album,
the song "Distant Calling" is fucking unbelievable!

for Thrash Metal with ancient Heavy Metal touch
I recommend KAT from Poland,
I listen to their 666 album before,
it's Raw thrash/heavy metal, quite sweet!
