Wishbone Ash

there is a cheap Wishbone Ash CD in the second hand shop down my road (the 'Argus' album). Can anyone recommend checking them out?

I know extremely little about them, other than the fact that the cover picture is quite cool, they are progressive rock type stuff, and were a big influence on Iron Maiden.

Buy it, or spend the fiver elsewhere?

I should listen to that album again I think. When I first heard it, I liked it, but I didn't think it was anything particularly special. There didn't seem to be much about it that was prog, apart from the fact that some of the songs are long, and that alone does not make a songs prog in my opinion. I'm not saying I didn't like it because it wasn't prog, but it just didn't do very much for me. However, since then a couple of my friends (ie. Stu and Jamie) have been liking them more and more ever since, they saw them live a long while ago and said it was amazing, Jamie showed me a live recording of one of their songs from another album (the songs was called Phoenix or something?) and it was actually amazing.

So basically, long story short, I think they're quite good and apparently they're amazing so I should give them another chance.

They're not prog. They are nice rock with wonderful dual guitars.
I know what you mean. It didn't jump at me at first. But I've grown to love it. not as much as many things, but more than many others.
The best thing about it was that it opened me up to them. Whilst I haven't got another album (save for a wonderful bootleg) I saw them live and it was wonderful. Really really wonderful.

but in all seriousness, this album is absolutely increadible. really really really great. i love wishbone ash, and its a great thing to hear as you will instantly start to hear where iron maiden were coming from. i was lucky enough to find it in a cash converters on Kentish Town high street for £1.50!!! its probably the best buy of my life. i took it home, listened to it, then listened to it again because i couldn't believe it was so good and it had only cost £1.50! worth a fiver, infact worth more than a couple of fivers. james, buy it!
