Hello. Do any of the computer literate guys on here (aka, nerds!) know how I can get rid of internet explorer on my computer? I currently use Firefox and have no problems with it, but I get constant pop-ups from IE even though I've got pop-up blocker turned on for both Firefox and IE. I also have an anti virus/spyware thing but it still gets twatted with pop-ups. I can't even watch porn without some damn pop-up ruining it for me, and can't close it because my hands are busy.

Help!

I also need to get rid of mine haha, but i havent in about two years since it started doing that.

It's not really a viable option to uninstall IE. It's basically part of the OS. You can do it but it's a PITA.

So what spyware and Antivirus are you running? Have you done full scan's with you AV and Spyware Software?

I use that AVG Anti Virus thingy. I think it stops spyware too, but not sure...

I use that AVG Anti Virus thingy. I think it stops spyware too, but not sure...

AVG 8 (the latest version) does stop spyware but 7 doesn't if I remember correctly. Why don't you try running Ad Aware - http://lavasoft.com/ (there is a free version) and see if it spots something. Remember to do a full scan with AVG as well.

I would personally use Avast - I've had zero problems with it in over 2 years. Download the Home version, register your email address to get a serial number and you're done. When it installs, schedule a boot-scan but don't reboot straight away. Double-click the icon on your desktop, stick the serial number in, then get it to update the definitions (click on the Eject button and then go to Update --> iAVS).

Adaware is also a good one to use, I've lost count of the number of machines and laptops I've cleaned viruses from and the Avast+Adaware combination works every single time.

I took Craigs advice and have never looked back, put it on all my families laptops too.
