Whichever one of you guys (STD caps I think) said it was Imperialism that put Africa in the situation we're in now needs to talk to some Rhodesians and ask them whether or not life was better for everyone before Mugabe came into power.

Africa is being run into the grown by both it's own people and by the corporations and governments of the west (and increasingly the Eastern powers of China and India, both of which have a stronger work ethic than the spoiled nations of Europe/America).

At least when the Empires were in charge there were roads, healthcare systems and education, now in some countries in Africa parents have to tell their children stories about cars and television, things they had in their youth.

The governments and corporations kill any promise of advancement left by squeezing the productive life out of the continent in a huge variety of ways.

Open your eyes and see the real reasons for Africa's poverty.

But the Empires didn't fuck them over anywhere as much as people say, and for someone to blame Africa on the Empires is just idiocy. is all i'm saying.

Well we pay for past mistakes - empire, slavery, needless wars.. or at least they do, despite the fact it isn't there fault. The best we can do is help them to help themselves, and let em get on with it.

The thing is, it is their fault. They agree to being raped by the companies and not organising themselves, we (collectively) left their countries with a promising future of economic and social development and put in the building blocks for them and they ran it into the ground everywhere applicable.

We are still partly to blame but the African countries had a great chance and ruined it.

Yes, because of a mixture of war and famine. You can hardly blame that on the African majority.
