yeah,
I think rob is one of the best metal vocal ever

For High Pitch vocal I think no one can touch John Cyriis

but for King,
maybe you're right,
he sounds too silly,
I really can understand why people think he's silly
even some of my friend think he's silly when I play KD songs

I can do those silly falsetto too
even sillier than him
but no one cant do it better than him!

like him or not
King Diamond is god

Eurgh! Awful, misconceived thread alert!

How many times have I heard people call Dickinson's vocals "silly" or "funny"? Loads. I totally ignore them because they are clearly not Maiden fans and can't grasp how they work within the band.

Now even if people are saying they like Mercyful Fate musically, they are clearly not in tune with their whole style and atmosphere if their only response to the vocals is amusement. They are unique, and an integral part of Mercyful Fate's brilliance.

Rob Halford has nothing to do with this! Why is he even relevant? Yes, he's the greatest. But I don't see why King Diamond needs to be compared to him. In fact, I've often found that it is dedicated Priest fans who have it in for King - they seem to feel he is attempting to copy Halford or eclipse his awesomeness - this is not even an issue!

Also, swizzlenuts makes one of the best points so far - the melodies executed by King are incredible, and go with the riffs so amazingly well that it's unbelievable (not to mention his lyrics, which are easily some of the best ever penned in metal).

This is not about comedy value or Halford imitation! If that is all you get out of King Diamond vocals, you are clearly not getting the message!

Winner is you, all hail the king.
Gee.... I don't know about the rest of you guys, but lately the only things that truly motivate me are erections and bowel movements.

Uh oh. I shouldn't have brought up Halford, because I hate it more than anything when people try to compare the 2.

The new one is ok, but it isn't a patch on Them/Abigail.

It's just King Diamond, everything falls uniquely into place. Nothing touches him in the scary/hilarious metal genre. Sure Halford has a better voice, but could he write a song about his Grandma and wail like a crazy banshee?

No Rob.

King Diamond is amazing and James is completely right. Anyway, Abigail and Them are great albums, no Mercyful Fate but still great albums.
