No, I haven't seen him fight Chuck Norris in Enter the Dragon. I've seen him fight Chuck Norris in Way of the Dragon.

Jackie Chan and Sammo Hung were also in that. I have never really been a Bruce lee film fan. His martial art style, yes. but this Films not really.

Yeah, his films never were that great. But I suppose at the time the appealing thing about it was that he liked to portray the ordinary sort of 'poor-man', as opposed to the flying monk warrior. People could relate to it more that way I imagine. But yeah, definitely these days I don't watch his films very much, apart from Enter the Dragon. My choice of martial arts films today either head towards the arty emotional madness of films like Hero, or the gritty goodness of stuff like Ong-Bak. I'd say Jackie Chan, but he hasn't really made a film worth watching in years, unfortunately. But back to Bruce Lee, it's more his philosophy and just how he worked his way up through life due to his unbelievable dedication that I found really inspiring to read about. By just watching his films alone, although you can admire his ability as a martial artist, there's just no way really you can get any insight into who he really is (or was, I should say). I'm sure a lot of what I read in that book was pretty biased, but it still gave me such a better understanding of why Bruce Lee became the legend he was.

I think they showed Riki Oh at a Reanimator night once in Brum - no one was talking to each other, they were just waching the film! It was pretty brutal if I remember correctly, the kind where you just have to laugh cos it's so nasty

Fucking HELL!

What's King Beyond The Gate about? And, Jon - yes, the Forever War is great.

Is it symptomatic of culture today that a thread about what books you read has turned into a thread about what kung-fu / horror films youve seen?

Jet Li was great in his heyday. Haven't seen Tai Chi master, but Once Upon A Time In China was fantastic, I need to see the second two. It's just a shame he started making loads of shit Hollywood hip-hop gangster films, like Romeo Must Die and Cradle 2 The Grave, what bollocks. Especially the latter one. A showdown between Jet Li and Mark DaCascos should've been one of the best martial arts fights ever filmed, but it was shit. Fucking hollywood idiots. At least he went back to his roots for Hero, that was an unbelievably amazing film.

But yes, back to books! Nothing still has come close to the effect 1984 and Brave New World had on me, but I have read some pretty good ones since then, including The Man In The High Castle by Philip K Dick. That was brilliant, although it had a really confusing ending. I love a good bit of dystopia I do.
