New UK Thrash vs Old UK Thrash

Driving back from Frost/Kreator the other night 'Mort and I were comparing the new UK Thrash scene to the 80s, and we concluded that the overall standard is so much better than it was. More bands, more variety and there is none of the "silly" edge that UK thrash had.

With new demos forthcoming from Rager, Deceptor and Let 'Em Burn, and no doubt many more in the pipeline, 2007 is shaping up to be a classic year for thrash! So a big thumbs up from two of the old cunts and I'd be honoured to at least try and get you reviewed in Terrorizer.

Are you on about UK Thrash bands in the 80s or Thrash bands in the 80s on the whole? Because nothing beats Reign in Blood.

it has to be said ian is right 2007 looks like it will shape up nicely for uk thrash.

I think the new scene is a lot more exiting. Plus we've created a whole new type of Thrash. It's not just a ripoff the Bay Area like most bands were in the 80s.

Hey it's just as I see it.

Bands like Evile, Deadfall, Headless Cross etc have more of a German Thrash menality but use the speed and technicality of the Bay Area and sometimes use the crossover style of the New York scene.

At the end of the day, it's thrash, so it's going to sound thrashy. I don't see anything wrong with that.

At the end of the day, it's thrash, so it's going to sound thrashy. I don't see anything wrong with that.

I wouldn't go that far. The wheel hasn't been re-invented, it's just not wearing Bermuda shorts and shouting Mosh! anymore.

It's still thrash but better thrash.
