Frank Zappa was my hero but he's dead now.

I heavily respect Chomsky, Pilger, Palast, Biafra and Zack De La Rocha. The truth is an 'icon' [rather than a hero - the last real hero I can think of was Ghandi (although Aung San Suu Kyi in Burma is a real legend)] like Hicks rarely pushes into the mainstream. I think the closest is Greg Palast, he has a fair amount of the 'conspiracy wacko' about him, which is always good. However, he is probably just too much of a journalist and not enough of an attention-grabber (he's basically Michael Moore but with integrity and talent, thus stopping him from being shit).
Meanwhile, Biafra represents the idea of sticking to your principals more than anyone else. He's been through a fair amount of shit but has never turned his back on his original thoughts. I don't agree with all his beliefs but his attitude is inspirational. Chomsky is similar but I really just love the fact that he has been a constant thorn in the side of established 'truths'. Pilger is possibly the best journalist ever.
Zack is an interesting one. He totally sums up 'living it like you preach it'. He has spent a lot of his time working for the cause of the Mexican people - his passion was clear from their live DVD. Not only that but he has apparently supplied arms to the Zapatistas. I don't know any artist of Zack's one-time popularity who has remained so radical.
Kind of like Boovidge said, most those 'heroes' never really achieved anything. They were, in terms of their ability to spur change, mediocre. Whether they were sidelined or not really that radical, they just didn't achieve out.
Still, if it's anarchy then its all about what's in you. No Gods. No Masters. Don't look for someone else to tell you what to do. For fucks sake. Do what I say! Think for yourself!

I think D.R.I. summed it up very well;
'How can I say to you, "You be Free"
That would never bring about mass anarchy
Now, would it?'

Caps's list of 'heroes' just illustrates what a broad and subjective label it really is - one person's 'hero' is another's 'hippy', and another's hero might be someone else's 'warmonger' or whatever (to simplify things a lot).
But then again, if the point is that there seem to be no particularly prominent flag-wavers from whatever camp (except those actually in power), then it is more open to debate, and I can see more clearly what is meant by this.

Alex Jones, anyone? I just got an e-mail about this film. I have no idea about its contents or anything. It's all new to me. I get e-mails from disinfo.org and they told me about this. Intriguing, even if it does reek of OTT conspiracy madness.
