Gerbils

Postby MartinC on Wed Feb 28, 2007 9:13 pm

I'm thinking of getting some gerbils as pets when I move into my house in Sheffield in July. Has anyone ever had them as pets before? Are they any good?

I've read up on them a bit and apparently they aren't nocturnal, which is good. I used to have a hamster and it went fuckin nuts as soon as it was night - it right pissed me off. Apparently they're quite clean animals as well so they don't smell that bad and you don't have to clean out their cage as often as you would a hamster.

You wish they were gay, so that they'd go up your ass and pleasure you. Sick bastard.

Get rats!

My mate had rats.

They're more responsive and much easier to teach stuff, apparently.

EH!!! What the fuck would you teach a rat or any rodent!!! to balance sunflower seeds on its nose? To dance a jig? To recite madam butterfly?? Rats and all other rodents are vermin and should be shot (unless used as extras in animal farm)!!!

I saw some rats in the Pet shop as well, but they scared me. They're not very cute looking and I don't like how long their tails are. Every time I looked at it, it would try and get through the glass. I think it wanted to kill me.

I stayed at this girls house one night and she had pet rats and one of them had a massive tumour on its back. It was like the same size as the actual rat!

What the hell is the point of gerbils.

The best pets are clearly cats.

I doubt I'd be allowed to keep a cat in the house and my house mates may not want a cat strolling around their house. At least if it's an animal I can keep in a cage it doesn't infringe on any body.

AND OMFG THEY'RE SOOOOOOO ADORABLE!!!11eleven

Why the fuck would you want any animal while at uni? More expense and more mess... neither of which will be needed.

I'm surprised your house's contract allows any pets at all tbh

Yeah, I still need to find out if it does or not. I intend to work while I'm at Uni, so I'll have some extra money kicking about.
