New Mortal Sin Album

Postby Darkweasel on Tue Jul 10, 2007 11:08 pm

Don't know if anyone's a fan of Mortal Sin here but I just got hold of their new album "An Absence of Faith" via Thrashmageddon.com.
Been a fan of theirs since way back in '87 and have been hoping for another album since the disappointing "Every Dog Has It's Day" in 1991.
It's been worth the wait. Standout track has to be Tears of Redemption which appears to be an unashamed sequel to "Lebanon" from their debut "Mayhemic Destruction".
Though not as good as the new Onslaught album (one of my contenders for album of the year), this is a very good, solid slab of 80's sounding thrash and is definitely worth checking out.

Yeah, it's a decent album. I talk to Mat now and again over email. Good bloke. I'd also recommend the live DVD they self-released a year or two back. Some good stuff on there.

There are definite Hetfield-isms in Mat's voice (yeah-yeah). Personally, I reckon this new album quite happily pisses on everything Metallica have done since 1991.
If you like their first album then I recommend their second one, "Face of Despair".
Don't bother with Every Dog Has it's Day. Two, maybe three good tracks and the rest is very shabby.

"Lebanon" still stands up as a classic song. Great riff.

i got mayhemic destruction from a vinyl bin for £1. Best deal ever. Also got Face of Despair on vinyl, for roughly similar price off ebay. Fucking amazing they are. The singer mat is a class guy, everytime i send them an email he always replies.

Man that is cool. I get stoked when I get a mesage from Adrenacide. I only have MD on an mp3 CD thing Jamie gave me, therefore I rarely listen to it. However, when I have it does always sound like some damn nice thrash.

I tried to get a CD off adrenicide, despite the fact they were really nice, they weren't much help... getting their own CD's out... after two emails, they just sent me a stock myspace message! How rude!

Probably because of expectancy levels. After Face of Despair, I was expecting another great album like that and was very disppointed in EDHID. However, because I said it was rubbish, you ended up being pleasantly surprised.
Sometimes you can just pick the wrong time to listen to an album.
