The unfortunate album thread reminded me of this travesty I bought a few years back, from amazon. It was 4 pounds. It claimed to include the history of thrash metal, and anthrax, who I was just getting into at the time.
When it came, there was a leathery paper cover, some strange drawing on the front and 2 golden disks inside. They were in that black plastic that used to come with double CD's in the mid 90's. There was a poor booklet with a few group pictures of anthrax and the track list, which read....
1. Bring the Noise - Anthrax
2. Nothing Else Matters
3. Master of Puppets - Hellsau
4. Necroshine - Overkill
5. Down for Life - Testament
6. Potters Field - Anthrax
7. Razed in Black
8. Phantom of the Opera - Paul Di'Anno
9. Unholyvoid
10. Battery - Die Krupps
11. For Whom the Bell Tolls
12. Ball of Confusion (That's What the World Is Today) - Anthrax
Disc: 2
1. Preacher - Testament
2. Force of the World
3. Among the Living - Anthrax
4. Wrathchild - Paul Di'Anno
5. Planets Collide - Crowbar
6. Abbadon of Venom
7. Seek and Destroy - Birmingham 6
8. Frek - Enuff Z'nuff
9. Judgement Failed - Dragon Lord
10. Deny the Cross - Overkill
Ok, so firstly, if you haven't heard of any of those bands, it's because they are techno remixes. It was the most confusing thing I've ever bought. It was terrifying. I was scared of thrash metal, until I realised it was a terribly made, techno thrash covers with a few odd choices by anthrax, testament and overkill. For the rest, the company obviously didn't have any money to spend on actual tracks.
I burnt the cd.
Anyone else bought this?
Oh and sorry what... GOLD?!
