New Kamelot song

Postby jonny_boy34 on Sat Apr 21, 2007 3:34 am

Hello. Has anyone heard the new Kamelot song 'Ghost Opera' yet? (I know there's at least one Kamelot fan on here somewhere!) It's lovely. It's on their myspace (http://www.myspace.com/kamelot). I like the fact it's quite similar to the Black Halo style in that it takes a couple of listens to really get into and enjoy, rather than Epica style (the opening track in particular) which is just a load of melodies in your face saying 'listen to me aren't i joyful'. It's got a nice mixture and balance of subtle goodness and good melodies, and is quite promising for the rest of the album. I can't wait!

No, but Ulver's 'I Troldskog Faren Vild' is much better.

Not a big fan of Kamelot, but it sounds pretty good. Thought I'd download what I don't have of their discography

Listening to it now. It's good. i really love khan's voice. He is a wonder. When I'm a rich boy, I think I'll buy some more of their albums. The only one I really listen to is Karma. The title track from that is a joy to behold.

I'm really glad you like it Stu, well done indeed. His voice is a bit of an hilarious experience I find. When I haven't listened to Kamelot for ages, I put it on and the first time I hear his voice it makes me want to laugh everywhere. But after about a minute I get used to it and realise it's really amazing, and no where near as gay as most typical power metal singers. Then again, Kamelot aren't just a typical power metal band (anymore), which is why I love them so.

If you like this song, you would most definitely like The Black Halo. If you ever decide to listen to that album again, just keep in mind the second half of the album is better than the first half.

I swear, all kamelot songs are the same song
yeah his voice is good, but I got bored of kamelot a couple years ago
listened to the new song and it just merges in my head with all the others i've heard (and i've heard 4 of their albums before)

 You would think, but... well, most people here would probably agree actually. I don't though! I can understand the view that all the songs sound very similar because... well, they do. But I still love them! They are great musicians and there's some amazing stuff in some of their songs that I really think 'well done' to when I hear them. I'm talking more from a musical aspect rather than technical. But even then, I really like how they are obviously all very accomplished at their instruments, but are also very restrained and don't just show off all the time like most power metal bands do. This is again another reason why i like Kamelot so much more than any other power metal band!

They played it at Prog-power this year and also gave signed copies away of the promo for the song Ghost Opera.

Anyone here who was a Prog-power or into Kamelot, Jon Oliver's Pain, Leaves Eyes, Communic, Haggard, dreamscape, Cloudscape or Heed should tune into the Rock247 Prog-power special today.

Thrash metal Luci here interviewed Communic. the show start at 2PM

Oh yes indeed I forgot you were going there. How were Kamelot, was it amazing? Did they play Memento Mori and the Elizabeth trilogy and make you cry because it was so amazing?
