I don't think death metal should be "Br00tulz" I much prefer the older stuff when it wasn't all BLAST BLAST BLAST GUTTERAL YEH!, as I've said before death metal is better when it brings in a doomy gloomy edge to it.

I'm into the old school stuff more too. I've never been a massive fan of these bands that just downtune and blast beat through an entire song. I still love alot of extreme "brutal" death metal bands, but these "Job for a Cowboy" type bands can just fuck off.

Early Cannibal Corpse, Death, Diecide and stuff like that is the best.
Gotta love the old school grindcore bands too, like ND, Terrorizer, Brutal Truth, Benediction etc, but this new so called "grindcore" shit is just noisy wank splurts...

As far as extremity goes... I'm not sure. If I want noise, I'll listen to whitehouse.

I've been listening to a good bit of old school grind recently, and I think that it takes something from old school death. The simplistic and fast riffs... After all it was all a bit incestuous in the beginning really. Just look at Terrorizer and Carcass... it wasn't clear cut then. I agree though that as long as it's a good tune, it's worth listening to.

i only like stuff you can headbang to, like CC is way too brutal for me they have some good bits but mostly its just kinda boring. Now bolt thrower that is some good shit, you dont even have to headband IT makes you headbang.

I've recently started liking more death metal, I like it fast, like thrash but just heavier. A few of my mates like Grindcore and I'm kinda starting to like that a bit, some of the vocals are jsut a mess and shound shit, but there are some which are really quite an art, such as this band, http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=33960243, and even if you don't like it that vocal sound is pretty impressive, and that vocalist, he does his gutteral squeely thing but sometimes he does it in such a way it just saunds like he's trying to sing a little song, oh and the double bass is fucking mental (on another listen, it sounds fucking fake!). It's kind of like my look on the weather, like, if it's gonna rain, it should fucking pelt it down for hours and cause floods, same with death metal, if you're gonna try and be br00tal, do the most br00tal thing you can. Kinda.

Anyway yeah I wanna get Scream Bloody Gore asap.
