Sonic and Mario in the same game shocker

"For the first time ever, Mario and Sonic will be appearing in the same videogame - on both the Nintendo DS and Wii!

SEGA and Nintendo today have made a historical announcement that two of the biggest icons in the entertainment industry, Mario and Sonic, are joining forces to star in Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games. Developed for the Wii and Nintendo DS, this momentous agreement marks the first time these two renowned stars have appeared together in a game.

The deal sees SEGA publish the game across Europe and North America, whilst Nintendo will handle the Japanese release, which will be a worldwide release this coming Christmas. The game is licensed through a worldwide partnership with International Sports Multimedia (ISM), the exclusive interactive entertainment software licensee of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). In 'Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games', players will compete in events that take place in environments based on the official venues of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. "

MUWAHAHAH! Sonic and Mario! In the same game! At the Olympics! Utter madness. I'm a big nintendo fan - but WTF?! :shock:

Ok... I suppose the throwing events. Although I'd imagine sonic could get some good spin for a hammer throw, and a fantastic run up for javelin.

I do not and never have owned a PS1, PS2, PS3, xbox, nintendo ds, sega mega drive or any other games console. Gaming is gay, and spending endless hours in front of a screen chock full of utter bollocks is just so sad. Just out of interest, has anyone noticed i have nearly 500 posts in less than 2 months :eyes:

Mario's an idiot, Sonic's the best. Except when he's in 3D, then unfortunately he is beaten by Mario because he's too fast and the controls are shit. Basically, Super Sonic better be an unlockable character in these olympic games, otherwise there's no point.

What a good thing though really. Though I wish they'd put them together in a real game of platforming goodness, it seems like a wasted opportunity just putting them in a bloody button bashing party game.

Unless of course its a fantasy platform-RPG loosely based on the Munich Olympics in 1972.
