Jethro Tull anyone?

Postby Metalbrew Stu on Sat May 05, 2007 7:24 pm

I fear I may get called a gay posting this on a thrash board, but anyone here like a bit of Tull? They're one of my favourite bands, and have been for the past couple of years. Ian Anderson is a musical genius.

If you haven't heard them, I suggest a listen to the Aqualung album. If you don't like that, your heart is black.

It's not gay Stu, it's whimsical.

Jethro Tull are brilliant. Anyone who hasn't heard them, get Aqualung like Stu says, yes. But don't dwell on it for too long, for it is Thick As A Brick that will truly blow your mind. Ian Anderson is indeed a musical genius, even if he is a bit hilarious.

All musical genii are hilarious. Frank Zappa was once asked the question "Does humour belong in music". Why even bother asking him that?

Tull created a story around the Thick as a Brick album that the lyrics were all written by a 10 year old boy. They wrote a whole newspaper with that as the cover story as well as a crossword, dot to dot, an review of the album, joke stories etc and wrapped the album in it... Anderson once said he spent longer on the paper than on making the music.

Hahahaha, Ian Anderson is a nob. Beardy hippy who stands on one leg playing neo-folk music on a flute whilst living in a drug induced haze of happiness. Sounds quite funny and even promising, but the music doesn't live up to the promise for me!!!

Tull actually beat Metallica in '91 (i think) to the grammy for best heavy metal band
