Blates Led Zeppelin. You have to be a mentalist to think Thin Lizzy are better than Led Zeppelin.
They where so ahed of their time and Jimmy Page wrote such intricate and thoughtful musical passages which never cease to amaze me. Without Led Zeppelin (and Black Sabbath) I would never ever been listening to what I am today and have such a great love music and all it has to offer.
Led Zeppelin where truly groundbreaking in the sense that they took what was already there and developing then really added something new and refreshing to a whole range of musical genres.
Thin Lizzy are still amazing though. Just not Led Zeppelin amazing. Just listen to 'Going To California' or 'The Ocean' (which is in 15/8) and then compare them to 'Emerald' or 'Black Rose'. I feel there is a distinction between LZ and TL and you can just can't deny LZ get the upper hand in it.
Led Zeppelin bumming session over.

I'm not a huge fan of either, but I'd probably say Zeppelin as I've actually heard at least one album by them..

Even i have to say Lizzy. Zep never really did anything for me.
Gee.... I don't know about the rest of you guys, but lately the only things that truly motivate me are erections and bowel movements.
Thank the Police coming straight from the underground...

Voted for Thin Lizzy. Never been a big fan of Zeppelin. I wouldnt say any were better than the other, but most people would probally vote for the Zeps, due to the fact they seem to be more influential than Lizzy.

Both bands have done a lot of shite, and both have done some great songs too. Oh and both have done theme tunes for top of the pops
(yeah i know yellow pearl was by phil lynott, but near enuff!). I am actually not going to vote on this as i dont think i really prefer one to the other,

Lizzy have some excellent tunes (Over the Hills, Whisky and Emerald to name just a few) but Led Zep win every time simply because they didn't write Sarah.
