THRASH ALBUM THAT CHANGED YOUR LIFE

Postby metal dave on Mon Aug 07, 2006 11:51 am

Which album first got you thrashin' and took you to all things underground and unacceptable to most mainsteam conciousness?

Although I was already familiar with hardcore/thrashcore/grind from John Peel's radio one show in the 80's,it was 'State Of Euphoria' by Anthrax that got me hooked.I'd never heard guitars as heavy and crushing as that before!!

I was sitting in mate Rory's attic smoking weed and listening to a live Green Day album.

Bille Joe announced to the crowd, "you guys like Metallica?"

Crowd: "YEAAAAH!"

Anyway they played the intro part and the first riff to Master Of Puppets and since I heard that I became addicted. I went out and bought the Puppets album and havnt looked back since.

So yeah, Master Of Puppets is the album that changed my life. With a little help from Green Day!

Well, Bonded by Blood but I'd been listening to the Big 4, Testament, and Suicidal Tendencies for a while before I went out and found BbB and FD on vinyl for a quid each.

I would imagine MoP would be the choice for many. Mine was Overkill - The Years of Decay. That was the album that turned me on to thrash.

...And Justice For All & Among The Living. First two i bought and i never looked back. Saying that it was actually a c90 a pal/fellow Iron Maiden fan at school gave me that got me into thrash. It had Garage Days Re-revisited on one side and So Far...So Good...So What on the other. He didn't tell me which band was which and i actually thought Megadeth were Metallica and vice versa
