D.A.M. & Slammer

Postby riddle on Mon Jun 11, 2007 8:28 pm

Hi, everyone,

I'm new here. I'm 31 year old and love 80s metal, especially thrash. Are there any fans of D.A.M. & Slammer here? I'm a fan of these bands. Anyone know what happened to this bands in the 90s? They disappeared without a trace...

"Human Wreckage" by D.A.M is a awesome slab of thrash metal, big chunky riffs lots of chugga chugga, excellent!Just got their 2nd release off e-bay,"Inside Out",only listened to it a couple of times, sounds darker than their debut, and the singer is a copy for Bobby "blitz" Ellsworth!!!
Slammer always seem to come in for a lot of flak, but their debut "The Work Of Idle Hands" is killer, well worth picking up if you can find it.Admitedly they did lose there way with the follow up.They also did an ep with the killer track "Insanitys Addicts"(?) on it,but have never managed to track it down, still searching!
I'd love to know what the guys from both bands are doing nowadays, hope they have stayed metal!!!!!!!

Slammer's firsy album, bar a couple of songs, is immense! I even have a slammer patch, good find that... Don't know that other band though.

Both Slammer and DAM were decent enough in their day. Both were better live than on record. I still have a soft spot for the first Slammer album - I play it fairly often. There are some rather tasty tracks on it IMO - "Tenement Zone" is a cracker, as is "If Thine Eye". Their follow-up "Nightmare Scenario" wasn't anywhere near as good. I always preferred Reanimator to DAM, even though I probably saw DAM more often (them being from Morecambe).

DAM are really good imo, although i thought the production lets it down, it doesn't have any face melt to it...

I quite like some of the tracks on Work Of Idle Hands, pretty solid album, but some parts are a bit dodgy.. not heard any of the other stuff but i heard it was baaadddd
