I hate a racist, but you know what's worse? A racist who hasn't got the balls to hold to his convictions.

Yep, Bush hasn't apologised to New Orleans for shit. That is a man of integrity. The only good racist is a dead racist! (Not that you were saying otherwise, Hostile).

Why should Bush apologise to New Orleans?!

It's not as if he personally ghettoised New Orleans and purposely flooded it himself or anything.

iain, seriously man.... sort it out. you are obviously just going through a bit of a "strange time in your life".

No, I've just come out of a "strange time in my life". I cannot actually believe I thought German Thrash was good.

What the FUCK was I thinking.

I've always loved certain Grunge bands and I'm in the process of rediscovering why.

I don't really like Glam tbh. The majority of the posters on here just think I do as they don't know what Glam actually is because they are complete retards and just label bands they don't like as 'Glam' indiscriminately.

One thing is for sure, they're both better than Thrash.

I do like Thrash, I'd be lying if I said otherwise. Just last week I was headbanging like a maniac when someone stuck on Victims of Deception at a poker night. From my posts of the last 3 - 4 months, I appear to have grown to hate Thrash. This isn't true. For some reason I've become less prone to presenting myself as a Metalhead through and through and become more inclined to acknowledge the fact that I love guitar music, be it KISS, Heathen or fucking Pearl Jam.

A forum, by definition, should incorporate a wide range of opinions and not just perpetual consensus. This forum would be fairly pointless if it was based entirely on bumming each other for having the same taste in music. Moreover, I enjoy annoying people over the internet whilst UTT. Yes, it is sad but it makes me laugh, and that is all that matters.

If I was only allowed to listen to thrash, I'd get bored very quickly. At the moment I'm on a Therapy? and NIN feast.

Exactamundo!

Until my mate made me realise how amazing W.A.S.P. were I believed that it was only acceptable to listen to Thrash. And now, the lid is off!

That's arguable. He ignored repeated warnings and then failed to act when the disaster struck. New Orleans still looks like a ghetto. If you cant blame The President, who can you blame?

The US Congress?

People here, and in the USA, drastically over-state the powers of the US President. After the War Powers Act (1973) was passed, the ability of the US President to act without prior approval of the US Congress was reigned in drastically. The power of the US President is, basically, the power of 'persuasion'. If Bush had wanted to take any pre-emptive measures regarding the vulnerability of US Seaboards he would have had to persuade Congress to decide to implement an incredibly expensive program of erecting (ha, erect) sea walls. Fair enough, the erection of sea defences has worked incredibly well for, for example, the Netherlands. The USA is, however, a much larger kettle of fish.

I love how people blame so many of the World's problems on a single man and refer to him as the most powerful man in the World. Almost everyone of the Hawks has as much clout (and experience) in the US as does Bush, if not more.

I'm sure that's true. Still, the Bush administration pretty much shat all over Congress and did whatever the fuck they wanted right up until the Democrats took the house this past midterm. And whether or not he holds the majority of the power in his administration, he's still the figure head we lay the blame on. Not to mention he's a damn sight less scarier than Cheney. If that dude stepped on my shoes, I'd apologise to him. He's fucking intimidating.

As you point out, the Republicans were dominant in the US Congress until 12/2006 and had been since 1994. Therefore, it's not really fair to say the Bush administration 'shat all over Congress' seeing as Clinton managed to over-ride the jurisdiction of NATO and the UN throughout the 1990s.

So we are to blame Bush for things that, ultimately, aren't solely his fault? I don't really see the point in criticizing Bush personally for Republican faux pas. The number of people I have met that say George W. Bush relies upon George H.W. Bush for guidance is astounding. Yet, if they would actually take two seconds to look at how politics is conducted in the US they'd realise that both were influenced heavily by the same players, such as Francis Fukuyama and Dick Cheney.
