...when Americans refer to a band singularly. eg Iron Maiden is great. Firestorm is the shittiest band ever.

Iron Maiden ARE great and Firestorm ARE the shittiest band ever!

That's fine, because they've done some pretty stupid stuff (just as we have), but there are some really genuinely cool people in America.

I know plenty of Americans, and of-course the majority of them are nice people... but if you approach them about politics, society or religion they instantly turn into the biggest bunch of wankers on the planet. I just had a nice, lengthy discussion with one Virginian who felt that warrantless NSA phone-tapping was okay because he "never discussed illegal stuff on the phone". This was of-course part of a larger conversation about how he would happily sacrifice freedom of speech in exchange for never having another school shooting like the VTech incident.

So maybe "die en masse" was a bit much, but come on, I gotta vent somewhere.
