I really don't want to give this one a listen, mostly because of how utterly shit that cover is.
That, and the fact that I know it'll just be another bland slice of death metal.

It's only Deicide. There's a bunch of better Death Metal bands out there.....
Plus, I wasn't really that impressed with the last one, so that doesn't help.

No argument there but I've always liked Deicide. Glen Benton's voice blew me away the first time I heard their debut. They got a bit samey after Once Upon the Cross but I really think the new album is one of the best recent death metal releases. It's far better than the latest Hate Eternal for a start.

Doesn't their drummer write all the songs? 'Nuff said.
Only joking. I think Asheim writes lots of really catchy riffs, it's a shame alot of them seem to buried underneath the complete onslaught of Benton's "52 lines in a verse and double tracked" vocals.
That riff though, that's about 90 seconds into the song "The Stench of Redemption", that blew my head off the first time I heard it.

I remember a Nirvana tune, 'I Hate Myself and I Want to Die.' As much as I like Kurt Cobain. I can't have people like that coming over here, on smack, fucking saying that they hate themselves and they wanna die. That's fucking rubbish. Kids don't need to be hearing that non-sense.

Best Deicide song is In Torment In Hell for the stupid intro at the beginning.
"IN TORMENT... IN HEEEELLL!!!!"
SATAN!!11

The best Glen Benton vocals are on Vomit The Soul by Cannibal Corpse

Don't like the new one. Boring riffs. I might be the only person around that misses the Hoffmans. Scars was way better than this (although "Stench" was decent enough). This new one just leaves me cold though - Glen should just stick with Vital Remains and jack Deicide in.

I've had a listen to the new one as well, don't rate it. They seem to have lost that momentum they got back for Scars and Stench.

Yeah I have that too and I REALLY like the song I Am No One and a few others but it doesn't touch Legion.

I listened to it today after reading this; I really like it too, evil and brutal with good riffage!

Euch, I thought Legion was a huge step backwards from the first album.
I heard that they recorded Legion and then worked out that it only lasted 26 minutes and so had to re-record it at a slightly slower tempo.
Fools.

Don't get me wrong, I do prefer the debut.
