Great points. It is indeed not a laugh a minute show, but idiots say that about the office, YET, a lot of people who like Extras seem to hate the Office. That's so hard to get round my head, it is slowly disintegrating over a period of 2 months.
Wonderful message, I hope it has some real life effects. It won't of course, apart from maybe Chico not going on celebrity big brother or something...

I just can't believe someone on TV finally stood up and said fuck you to Big Brother (and X Factor), I really felt uneblievably emotional during that bit. I didn't expect it to be so direct! The problem is, a lot of people will just see it as a fictional program and won't take anything away from it, and Big Brother will carry on ruining the world. Hopefully some people will realise that Gervais was being real and unbelievable. I really couldn't believe it!

When he said that and Maggie was crying I started weeping uncontrollably. God...
I know, bloody hell. When I got home last night it was on again with sign language, and I watched the last 45 mins or so again, and because I was on my own it made me nearly cry a lot more. My eyes were definitely very moist indeed.

The Office Xmas was better. More amusing, more emotional and more appropriately emotional.
By that I mean that everything in The Office worked out for the best, it set itself up better and concluded better. All the way through the extras special I was just thinking 'what a miserable cunt'. Andy Millman was not an enjoyable character this time round until the last 5-10 minutes (his speech onwards). The speech had me fighting back tears, I'll admit. Also, the Merchant/Williamson combo was/is brilliant. All of their bits were very entertaining.
Also, in that speech, Gervais didn't say anything we didn't already think/feel/know. It was just great to see it put into a popular comedy setting.

"And what about the churches and all their wealth
There's an unseen fortune under their belts
Are golden temples a symbol of God's way
This horde of wealth is a sickening display"
